“Great walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2014

Walked from Clapham passing the caves and Gaping Gill on a horrible day but this is always a good walk with plenty to see.

“Great walking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

We walked up Ingleborough from Clapham and found it to be a lovely walk. You can stop in and see the Ingleborough cave on they way if you want. Good paths all the way. The climb up Little Ingleborough is the hardest part of the walk then after that it's much easier.
Well worth the effort of getting up there even if you're not doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks

“What View?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

What View?

Since 1971, I’ve climbed this Yorkshire peak four times and have only once enjoyed the view from the top that other subscribers have described. This was in July 2013, during the recent heatwave. What a change to be up on top of Inglebrough, without a movement in the air and with hazy views of the Irish Sea, Whernside, the Ribblehead Viaduct etc. etc. Yes. You really do have to pick the weather if you want to see anything other than low cloud and mist in front of your eyes after such a lot of hard leg work. In August 2013, I did it again having got down Gaping Gill (compliments of the North Craven Pot Hole Club (see separate review)) a bit quicker than I imagined. A howling wind, low cloud and no views, but still a wild and stunning place to be. If you want to take on the challenge of climbing Ingleborough and it is a challenge unless you are one of the hardy sheep that live there, for goodness sake, take some warm and weatherproof clothes and a good pair of boots. Also, plenty of food and drink. The weather changes very rapidly and in can be cold up there. There are no facilities beyond the Ingleton Cave Café, on the walk up from Clapham and you will definitely need some supplies. As, when and if, you get back down Clapham and Ingleton are both great places for a celebratory pint of beer and some good food.
