“Really Good Food, Lovely Welcome - Great Lunch!”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

We popped into the Talbot Arms this week because the lunch menu looked good with a special "Market Day Special" being advertised in town. The welcome was warm and the menu had a good variety of well priced dishes to choose from. Not really expecting anything too special we chose the steak and ale pie and the scampi and chips. The service was quick (we ate outside - this area could be improved on) and the food was really delicious. The portions were just enough for lunch the pie well cooked, tasted excellent, served with vegetables and mashed potato which tasted homemade and not just re-heated, the scampi was fresh and the chips were hand cut with the skins on served with tartar sauce. Very good value for money, well cooked with what seemed to be fresh ingredients.

We would definitely come back again - thank you!

“Fine updating of old Pub”
Reviewed 2 September 2012

Visited the Talbot three times during our week in Settle. Initially went to Quiz night which was great fun and ate here twice later in the week. The pub has been superbly refurbished, retaining its character. Food excellent and good value, beer well kept with good choice of real ales. The bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the beers. The Talbot is just what a local pub should be - a great addition to the Settle drinking scene.

“Let down by the chips!”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

The bar staff were friendly, food orders were quick and hot. Though we were a bit disappointed with the portion size and the chips were greasy and soggy.

“A Sight for Sore Knees”
Reviewed 8 August 2012

After a bracing walk up (and down) Ingleborough, hence tender knees, the Talbot was a real find. The Moroccan Lamb casserole, a special of the day, was superb and the kids enjoyed beef and cheese burgers - the beef came with a child-sized bun and both had full salad garnish that was fresh and attractively presented. The bar was well-stocked, with a range of local real ales, both Yorkshire (Timothy Taylors) and Lancashire (Moorhouses) were represented and the staff were friendly and offered unobtrusive yet attentive service. This is a great pub.

“Friendly lively pub”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

Friendly welcome and busy, lively atmosphere. Fantastic beer garden. Menu a bit limited but food well presented, fresh and tasted great. Staff were welcoming and friendly and service was really good. Great dog friendly place to meet up and socialise. The whole pub was clean and comfortable.
