We understand that the Courtyard has only been operating since 2012 - it's a converted barn located on the A65 road up to the Lake District. It is open for cars but not coaches. It contains (no surprise considering the name) a lovely open courtyard area with little places to sit and have a quick snack and drink but there is also a Brasserie (located inside the buildling and I believe it has a separate TA review) which we didn't use. There is a small cheese/meat shop, a wine shop, a furnishings showroom, a small art gallery selling gifts/prints and jewellery and also a small tailors, Abraham Moon.
We stopped on the way to Bowness and enjoyed a lovely selection of sandwiches and coffee before browing the shops. The small cafe area is reasonably priced and the cheese shop is operated people who know their cheeses! The shops inside the main barn area are exteremly expensive though.
Will certainly be stopping here again and perhaps will take a look at the Brasserie next time.
