“Settle in for a luxury stay”
Reviewed 20 March 2014 via mobile

We stayed in Fuggles which is in the loft space - beautiful and spacious bedroom, immaculately clean, with generous and comfortable bed. Adjacent sofa and large flat-screen TV completed excellent bedroom. And through the swing doors into the ensuite.....a gorgeous new-looking bathroom complete with great shower and jacuzzi tub for two - which we put to good use after doing the gruelling Three Peaks walk. Yorkshire breakfast was top-notch with the largest (and perfectly cooked, might I add) sausage and the rest. Chris and Jackie were most welcoming and attentive. Settle itself is a gem of a town surrounded by stunning countryside and walking opportunities. Will come back soon definitely.

We really appreciate you taking the time to write this review, firstly well done for completing the Three Peaks Challenge – you certainly deserved the Jacuzzi Bath afterwards! It is so pleasing you liked both the room, breakfast and our hospitality. We do hope you will come back again to enjoy Settle and do a few more walks!

Fab weekend staying at the King William. Lovely attentive owners who made us and Ruby our dog, very welcome. Ruby even had her own food dishes and mat provided!
Breakfast was scrumptious and the B&B was perfectly situated on the edge of town so wasn't too noisy outside. The only slightly negative point, and I mean slightly, was the dog friendly room was positioned by the front door for obvious reasons which was also opposite the breakfast room, which meant it got a bit noisy from around 7am with early risers and breakfast.
I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a relaxing weekend away. Its within an easy reach of the Settle to Carlilse railway and all areas of the Yorkshire Dales.

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments, it’s so pleasing you all (including Ruby!) had a fab weekend. It was unfortunate that the weekend you stayed we had some guests rising early for the 3 peaks walk and disturbed you at breakfast time, but we are glad it didn’t spoil the whole experience and you would still recommend us.

We only stayed one night here but we were both made very welcome. The facilities are simply the best, everything you need to feel comfortable and more. A lot of thought has gone into making your stay enjoyable. The breakfast was lovely too. We look forward to staying again in the future.

We've just spent a marvellous couple of days amidst the lovely scenery around the charming market town of Settle. Our stay at the King William the Fourth Guest House so complemented the magnificent weather we had. The bedroom was extremely clean and well furnished with two very comfortable beds. The shower room had been superbly decorated and fitted out with a tremendous exhilirating shower. The breakfast was tremendous and kept us going all day. The welcome and attention given to us by Jackie was first class and we have no hesitation in highly recommending not only this accomodation but the area generally. The Settle to Carlisle railway is not be missed and there is a lovely pub just next door serving good food and a wide range of local beers.

Thank you so much for sharing your comments about your marvellous stay in Settle. I am so pleased you found everything from the room to the breakfast to be tremendous. You both were blessed with a lovely spell of good weather which made your trip on the railway a pleasant one. I will pass on your comments to the Talbot Arms as I know you enjoyed their hospitality too.

We have just had a lovely time at KWF Guest House. Lovely property, very helpful and welcoming owners. Room was lovely - very clean, decor excellent and en suite had a fantastic shower. Breakfast was also delicious thanks! We'll definitely be back - what greater recommendation can we make than that?

We enjoyed our night here in a clean and relaxing room. The bed was very comfortable and there was a lovely shower room with plenty of powerful hot water. Despite the window facing the main road, there was virtually no noise from outside although it did rattle a bit in the strong wind. The welcoming reception was excellent as was the advice on where to eat. My reason for the one star knocked off was the very average breakfast. A sausage that was still pink inside coupled with a small and unappetising piece of black pudding were the demerit marks although the brown toast was lovely. Overall a nice place to stay in the Dales.

Room Tip: A room facing to the back might be more insulated from the weather.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your largely complimentary review. We are very glad that you enjoyed the room, shower and welcome.
As for the issues that you experienced, I will have a look at the window to see if I can remedy the rattling. It is clear from your comments that I did not cook your sausage sufficiently and for this I must say that I am disappointed in myself and can only apologise.
I would also like to say that this is a very rare occurrence and that we ask every guest after serving the breakfast if everything is OK, this is so that if they have any issues such as yours they can let us know immediately and we then have the opportunity to resolve the situation. It is a shame that on the day we did not know and did not have the chance to replace your sausage. As for the black pudding, we have never had any negative comments regarding this and all our meat is sourced from an award winning local butcher.

After a wet walk in the dales, it was lovely to settle in at this Guest House in Settle. We were well looked after with a very clean room, great powerful shower and then a scrumptious breakfast the next morning to set us off on our next day's walk. Nothing was too much trouble and the relaxed atmosphere was just what we needed. Bed was comfy too.

Would recommend to walkers, as you will be looked after. And the pub being two doors away when your legs ache is perfect too!

Room Tip: All the rooms were nice, our group used four of them.
