Looking at all the places to stay, the Riviera was was certainly the correct choice, when you stepped through the front door it just felt good.
Zed and Emma are a lovely couple who made us feel welcome throughout our stay, the room was spotless, and the sea view could not be beaten, the breakfast was superbly cooked, and served with a smile..
We are coming back in August, why look anywhere else, coudn't be any better.

This guess house is an excellent place to stay at when you`re in Whitby. We`ve just had two nights stay and would recommend " The Riviera " to anybody. Our room and bathroom was clean and tidy. On arrival we were greeted by Emma who was warm and friendly and explained everything clearly also saying we had our own keys so we could come and go whenever we liked. Emma explained to us how breakfast worked saying there was fruit juices ,yogurts, cereals, fruit and toast available, but also there was a list of hot breakfasts which we had to order the night before on a order breakfast form. On departing we were greeted by Zed who was also warm and friendly to talk to and wished us a safe journey home. We would definitely come back and stay again.x

What a wonderfully run guest house. We stayed in room 14 on the 10th June , with fantastic views of the sea and the Harbour entrance. The room is at the very top of the property , but we were fully prepared for this as we were informed clearly on booking. It is worth the climb for the views. On arrival were greeted by Zed, who explained again about the several flights of stairs and also explained the ordering of breakfast. Zed offered to help us with our bags, but we politely refused his offer, but it is nevertheless nice to be asked. Our room was smartly presented offering the previously stated views it also has 2 whicker chairs and a settee. There was plentiful supplies of tea bags/coffee and even 2 wine glasses supplied. There is a good feel about the place with a touch of humour, I read the safety notice in our room as i always do , it gave clear instructions and then read if the above fails then use the parachute......! provided on top of the wardrobe for your escape. The bed was comfy and a good nights sleep was had by us both. Breakfast was fantastic with plentiful supplies and pleasently served by the ever smiling Emma. First time we stay in a B&B's we usually just book 1 night, we left regretting we stayed the 1 night only. We will be back and for longer......

Room Tip: Room 14 affords fantastic views, it is in the attic so maybe a challange for tall people(which we ar...

This is an excellent hotel, in an ideal location with the beach, bars and restaurants just a stone's throw away. Both of the owners are extremley friendly and make you welcome the minute you walk in. The breakfast was delicious, good food and a good portion size too! The rooms are a good size( we stayed in room 4) with lovely new en suite bathroom's. The hotel is very well presented, large but homely and very very clean.Overall we would highly recommend this hotel and are looking at booking again very soon.

A very late booking for a bit of peace and quiet and an overnight stay in a place we love, Whitby! A warm welcome from Emma on arrival and a cheery "Hello," from Zed too! Although as a couple, we booked the family room (due to booking late) it does overlook the back and not the seafront. That didn't particularly bother us, as a place to 'get your head down' whilst enjoying the joys of Whitby, it was great! One double bed and one single, very clean, great night's sleep and fairly spacious en suite bathroom too with both bath & shower facilities. Slight warning, if you have mobility difficulties you may find the stairs very steep so please do ask for a lower floor bedroom.
For WGW fans, it is literally opposite the Pavilion!!!! If you can get reserved...!
Not sure why people previously complained about breakfast? There are two dining rooms, with a good sea view. Juice, cereals and toast along with tea/coffee (which you are regularly offered a top up of!) And then a fair sized full-English breakfast, if you order it the night before.
Couldn't fault it! Thank you Emma & Zed! Hope to 'escape' to the Riviera again! x

Room Tip: If you are bothered about the view do request a 'sea-view' room.

Great reception friendly and warm welcome free on street parking . The Riviera is ideally placed just on the edge of town not far away from the harbour , pubs and beach
Zed,Emma and staff were brilliant ,from the beginning entertaining and full of fun laughing and joking with us ,zed is a cheeky chappie full of wind-ups and tall stories for the kids Emma a loverly caring person who has time for you .Nothing is too much trouble for these two, they made our stay a pleasure .
The hotel is clean with a choice of many rooms with individual decors to inspire ,we asked to see them and Emma gave us the tour .Breakfast was great and once again nothing was too much trouble (thank you very much Emma for looking after Lisa ) .
Will definitely be going back .
. Many thanks for a great stay
