Reviewed 22 October 2013

The food and the staff were excellent!
Unfortunately the rooms are very tired, broken lock on door, torn dirty sofa and the MOST uncomfortable mattress!
Has issues with sound proofing too, or lack of! Woken at 6am by the sound of people using a bathroom/toilet above our room

We stayed in Room 2 - a lovely room, with a lounge area and balcony, and a mezzanine bedroom, so we had plenty of space to relax. The weather wasn't that great, although it didn't spoil our weekend at all, but it was nice to have a lovely room to relax in and read the papers. The tea/coffee service was superb, all the staff very helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely, bright and clean, top marks to the cleaner. The position is ideal too, right next to the harbour, and therefore very close to the shops and restaurants.

We have just celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary and so booked a night away at the sister hotel of the Marine, at the Moon & Sixpence just a few doors down from the Marine.

Our room (no.6) was absolutely stunning. Having stayed in hotels around the world of all standards this was without a doubt one of the most spacious, well appointed luxury rooms we've had. Truely spoilt us. No car park was not a problem as there was plenty of free parking up the hill a few mins walk away. The huge jacuzzi bath positioned at the end of the living area was great, the ultra modern bathroom was superb & the extra touch of a few dvds to watch on the dvd player was really well thought out too. Excellent views from bed across the bay and upto the abbey. Breakfast was included and was served upto 12 down in the lovely modern bar downstairs (from which we heard no noise at all) however due to us trying to save room for a fish and chip lunch we did not take. I cannot recommend the Moon and Sixpence enough and cannot wait to return again one day soon for another relaxing break away. All my friends have been wowed by my photos and already want to go too!

Another visit to enjoy fantastic fish and chips. Crispy, tasty thin batter covering soft and moist fish plus hot crunchy chips a perfect seaside lunch. Busy buzzy atmosphere very friendly staff overall a lovely lunch.

Stayed here on 13th October. We had room 3. A lovely room, very well appointed with wonderful views. Decor and cleanliness superb. No tea/coffee making in the room but even better, you pick up the phone and its brought straight to your door, and its "proper coffee", not the silly sachets and plastic milk. A much better service I think. At the same time as booking the hotel we booked a table in the restaurant for 8 oclock. Service was just right, attentive and friendly, the food (seafood plattter and lobster thermidor) was excellent. Cooked perfectly and delicious.
The tables are a little close together. I felt uncomfortable squeeezing (and I'm not particulary large) between them when a couple was sat having a meal.
After a good nights sleep in our lovely room we had a fantastic breakfast. The menu is massive with lots of choice. We had eggs benedict and kippers, both perfect. Infact it was all so good we returned to have a late lunch.
All in all, a lovely hotel, excellent service and friendly staff, fantastic food at anytime, wonderful location and views. All in all a special place to stay. We had a wonderful time.

Went to the marine with some friends for my birthday and it was great. The atmosphere was lovely and the food exceptional the scallops to start were tasty and cooked perfectly, everyone enjoyed what they had only one criticism was the waitress should just remind you that the veg needed to be ordered separately when ordering fish.

Although a small hotel the room we had -room 3 - was delightful. Large bedroom, modern spacious sitting area and a view of the harbour. Very central. The staff were super. They were attentive and friendly and responded to requests immediately. Super clean, modern furniture, just as a hotel should be. No tea or coffee making in the rooms but they brought a tray as soon as it was requested. We didn't eat dinner here but the the breakfast was good, a very varied menu. The only downside was the noise in the evening from the live entertainment
It was so loud it made the room shake.
