“Best ever fish and chips!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2014

We didn't stay at the Marine hotel but ate in the restaurant one evening. The ten ounce battered cod was huge! The fish was moist and delicious and the batter was was so crisp and golden, don't know how they make it like that but wish I could. The price was very reasonable. The sweet menu looked very good too but far too full to contemplate!

We opted to have a belated Valentine's evening on Sunday 16th. Table booked in advance and thank goodness we had opted to eat earlier. Lovely location, service friendly and restaurant soon filled up. We ordered our food to be told no lobster available which affected both our main course choices. Not too much of a problem, but not for those diners ordering at 8pm there was hardly anything fish based left to order and lots of grumbling ensued. I know it can very difficult to judge the winter season, but this was Valentine's weekend at the start of half term, so it did seem a bit slack at best and the shine was taken off what had been a pleasant evening.

we have just returned from the marine hotel, we stayed in room number 2, this hotel is perfect, beautiful room, the views are fantastic, the balcony is a lovely idea, as for the staff nothing was too much trouble, we ate our breakfast in the room and it was out of this world, this is one place we will definately be booking again soon

We stayed in room 5 for a birthday getaway. This is not in Marine Hotel but a couple of doors along. The room was huge and very impressive. It has a jacuzzi bath in the living room which is unusual but fun. Not really a view of anything as at back but Whitby is lovely and we were out and about mostly anyway. No door on toilet so only for close friends! Any lie in impossible due to workmen banging about in stairway but obviously getting things in order for the season. Breakfast in Moon and Sixpence nice enough but did take quite a while to arrive. This said we had a great stay and would return.

Two couples, two nights,we had room two. If you look at my Trip Advisor you'll see we do this weekend thing a fair bit. This place is a keeper. Lovely rooms,I think room one is the best, but two is good as well. The breakfast is out of this world, and if you are intended to have the fish and chips for dinner, don't eat for the week previous! The staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble.
Ice bucket for champagne we brought with us to watch the rugby,no problem. Early morning coffee,no problem. Entertainment courtesy of pianist Johnny is close to brilliant. Wi-fi works,if a little slow.

Room Tip: There are only 4. One is the best, then 2.

We stayed in Room 1 in this lovely hotel for two nights, Saturday and Sunday. The décor was superb and room lovely and clean. The little sitting area, with two French doors onto a small balcony with chairs, had delightful views over the harbour and abbey. No tea or coffee facilities in the room but service was very prompt when you rang and requested refreshments. The staff very friendly and accommodating. It is a shame that I have three disappointments! Firstly, I was not impressed with the sound of the hoover at 8.15 am. Secondly, the toiletries were not refurbished on our second morning. Third, and my biggest complaint, we dined in the restaurant on the Sunday, only to find that there was no lobster or Lemon Sole to be had, which meant that a good third of the menu was unavailable for us to choose from. Very disappointed, as my husband and I had previously viewed the menu on line and selected the lobster and sole as the meal for us!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are fantastic but I feel that all would have the same noise level.

This cute little hotel is located in the middle of whitby. We had the top room - which was lovely - a lot of stairs to go up, but well worth it for the view! Beautifully decorated and very clean! Its located right in the center of Whitby!
