“Extremely rude and unhelpfull staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2011

Hi,
My wife and I went for a usual day out to Whitby with our newborn. To our disbelief we were told that we cannot take the baby in a pram and that we should either leave our son in the passage way or move to a plastic newborn seat that would obviously wake the baby up. Some ridiculous H&S rules were used as an excuse, when I mentioned that it has never been a problem in other restaurants in Whitby we were told by some rude member of staff that we should go somewhere else. What we have done. The pram has not been any problem at Hadley's where service was great as usual.
I have to say that we were extremely disappointed and we would advise families with children to stay away from this place that claims to be child friendly

“Well Worth the Money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2011

We found this little place in the main town area of Whitby though in a small very pleasant street. It was quite busy (12:30) though tables were available, we both ordered Fish and Chips (of course as you cannot go to Whitby without sampling their local fish) The service was excellent and the food was as good as I was expecting but costing a lot less than some higher rated (TripAdvisor) places in Whitby. If you take my advice don’t queue for a table outside Magpies go to the Royal Fisheries it is well worth it.

“Best in Whitby”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2011

Has to be the best fish & chips in Whitby! Ate here four days out of seven as the food was lovely and restaurant spotless. Maybe not the nicest outlook as some of the other fish & chip shops but the food makes up for it. Lovely crispy batter on the fish and small portions are available. (if you're like me and can't eat a lot) Staff very pleasant. Quite reasonably priced too.

“Great Fish & Chips restaraunt”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2011

We went to Royal Fisheries on a quiet evening after a recommendation from the chap who runs the mini-golf.
We walked past a queue of people (in the rain!) outside the 'famous' Whitby fish & chip restaraunt, and we're glad we did. Lovely cod, nice service, pleasent dining area & spotless toilets.

Fantastic! Beautiful, large cod which tasted fantastic. The chips have a slight crinkle cut to them, which is the only place in Whitby which does. Well priced too.
