We stayed for a few days in the beginning of March and it was COLD. Whitby was one of our last destinations on our whirlwind tour of London & Scotland during our two week stay. I must say, staying at The Dolphin was a nice change of pace. Entering into the establishment, there were people eating home cooked meals and drinking draft brews. The room was clean, warm and gave us a spectacular view of the river and town around us.

I highly recommend The Dolphin for lodging while staying in Whitby. It might cost a little bit more than the other accommodations available but is well worth it!

Logged in as my boyfriend but written by Helen p. I stayed here with my boyfriend in 2008. The room was lovely and very cheap. It was large and nicely decorated. The room had a great view of the harbour. They could do with doing breakfast though.

Top class hotel, location and all but one staff. The landlord is an arrogant aggressive loonatic who is not fit to run a hotel or any business. He clearly has a drink problem and anger management issues.didnt even stay the full night we only lasted until 10 o'clock and had to leave.

Very impressed with our Room, no 4, could have done cartwheels it was huge! Kingsize bed was very comfortable. Shower over bath, water pressure was phenomenal, took about 3 minutes to fill the bath. Great sleep, that was surprising to say its a pub, Breakfast was delicious. Central location. Enjoyed the quiz on Sunday. Planning a return visit.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a sofa bed too, good for families

After a day out as a family in Whitby, with my two young children, we decided to have sit down and a drink, possibly a meal in The Dolphin. About 10 minutes after sitting down a very irate man entered the room and started to be very rude to us about our buggies, which were folded and tucked under the table. He then left the room, leaving me and my partner gob smacked. We found him and confronted him about his rude behaviour straight away, he didn't appear to care less. We decided to leave, with nearly full drinks and will never return to this place for fear of being confronted by this horrible man and the ridiculous beard he hides behind. We spoke to some locals about this and he has developed a reputation for being rude, we were told numerous stories about him. Looking at previous reviews, a possible career change for this man is in order?
