We were attracted to The Seacliffe because it is a pet-friendly hotel situated in an enviable position overlooking the sea and harbour. The location is ideal for walking along the beach. We were lucky in that we had great weather and the opportunity to walk with our little spaniel from Whitby to Sandsend along the watersedge - gorgeous! Our room was clean and tidy with en-suite facilities and a hospitality tray. There was a wide and varied choice of food at breakfast ranging from a full English to kippers! Special dietry requirements were also catered for - nothing was too much trouble for the pleasant and friendly staff.
Overall, we had a very pleasant extended weekend at The Seacliffe made all the more pleasurable by the well stocked bar at the end of a nice evening stroll. We would not hesitate to return as we know a warm welcome in every possible way, awaits us AND our little doggy!

Upon arrival at reception, my 2 young sons and i were made to feel very welcome. Our family holel room was quite compact, which we didn't mind as we was only there for a weekend. The whole room, bed linen and towels was spotless! The room overlooked the sea which was beautiful and also had views of the Abbey! Breakfast and the evening meal was delicious. On a whole, i recommend this holel and would have loved to had stayed longer, next time i will!

This was our second visit to the Seacliffe and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. The owners and staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. Ensuite rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast menu lovely with a good choice. Represents excellent value for money. Has a private car park at the front of the hotel. We like it because of its location.

I stayed at this B.B. and when I booked over the phone I was informed of a good view overlooking the Harbour. Not the case, when I told the landlady she denied all knowledge of saying this although their web site also boast this.Very small room and a bathroom about as big as a w.c on a plane. I asked for a refund but was refused. After 2 nights we had had enough so moved to a much better hotel literally on the harbour for the same price. The landlady was very rude when we left, albeit paying for 3 nights when we only stayed for 2. A very poor choice and a long steep walk back. Dont bother with this place.

Hotel clean, but very small bathrooms with sinks in the bedrooms, staff friendly and polite, stayed here for a wedding (already booked for us, so not our choice) warm welcome, stayed for full english breakfast, very very greasy and awful tea (not using Yorkshire tea bags) overpriced ,charged single person £56 for one night B & B in February.

Excellent location, friendly staff. Steep stairs and no lift. Very limited off-street parking. Takes dogs (the main reason we stayed there).

Warm and (apart from the very old and basic 12" TV) well equipped room . The bed we had was comfortable enough, albeit only a 4'6" double. The toilet was cramped and had a sliding door which was not at all soundproof (!), also the electric shower was temperamental.

Breakfast was good, plenty of it and plenty of choice. The evening meal was ... pedestrian is the best way of describing it, both the menu and the cooking. The second night we went instead to the Magpie cafe in town and had much, much better food for more or less the same price.

Which leads on to my major grouse - it's expensive for what it is. If you don't have a dog and can do without the excellent location, there are much better value places in Whitby and the vicinity.

Stayed with my husband and dog for 2 nights . The hotel is very pleasant with wonderful views, however i feel it is very over priced (£80 a night) when the room was so very small and the bathroom was in the equivalent to a cupboard. You can't both walk round the bed at same time. The breakfast was however oustanding and the staff were very pleasant. I know there aren't many places that accept four legged friends but I must admit that for £160 I would expect a larger & better room (in need of decorating)
