we are four ladies who for the last 7 years have gone away together for a short break and this year we decided on Whitby.
We stayed in Fawcett House just on Flowergate which is very central for all the attractions.
This cottage is hidden down one of the many alleyways to be found in Whitby. Up the first flight of stairs takes you to the bedrooms. The décor throughout has a sumptuous colonial feel and carved wooden decorations are found on the walls along with ornate wall lamps. The 3 bedrooms ( 1 doubled, 1 kingsize and 1 single) are roomy and extremely comfortable, (there is a lovely view across the harbour from the double bedroom) although the single bedroom has little room for luggage there is lots of storage for clothes in the hallway just outside the bedroom. There are two bathrooms one ensuite, shower room and a family bathroom with both full sized bath and shower.
The living area is situated in the roof space and the kitchen is well laid out and has all 'mod cons'. There is plentiful seating both in the dining area and 'lounge' section, with one truly comfy sofa, so you may end up fighting over it. There are lovely views across the rooftops to the church and abbey. In fact you can see people struggling up the famous 199 steps from the cosiness of your accommodation. There is no parking directly by the property (a 40 minute limit allows for unloading etc) and it's not a long walk from on street parking nearby.
