This was our second visit to Raithwaite Hall and did not think that our first visit could be surpassed! However, considering it was Easter Sunday and Raithwaite Hall was very busy, the staff were polite and helpful, the food was superbly cooked and the whole atmosphere was unforgettable. We will certainly return soon. Iain B

We have had a couple of excellent days here. We usually stay in one of the boutique b&b's in Whitby itself - but couldn't get in on short notice. How glad we are that we ended up here instead. It's a bracing one hour walk into Whitby. (£6 taxi back). The hotel is well appointed ( we stayed in the main hotel), in lovely grounds that y can explore. Our room was smartly decorated with good views of the gardens. The bathroom was not especially chic but clean and smart too. Robes and slippers are provided. The tv and movie service good, and we found the housekeeping staff friendly and efficient. The reception staff were warm and welcoming, and we enjoyed a drink in the bar, loafing on sofas and reading for a couple of hours. The evening meal was spot on. I would say that some of the waiting staff seemed a bit young; perhaps a little inexperienced and slow at times. Similarly at breakfast. The spa was clean and relaxed ( and relaxing). I hope that in extending the accommodation does not make the spa too busy. This is really not a place for kids... (Despite a push for family accommodation, and amusing animals in the garden I think this hotel is too smart for children - and I didn't welcome the complaining family in the dining room.) keep this for the grown ups!
Good value and a real treat. We will be going back.

Room Tip: Room 201 had a fab view of the gardens. Free wifi (our personal mobile phone service was dreadful s...

Really fantastic time away at Raithwaite Estate. Very welcoming, obliging team of staff with great service in the restaurant. Food was delicious especially the steak. Cannot wait to return again soon.

Stayed here for Easter weekend in a courtyard room as we have a dog. Room was fit for purpose- bed huge and comfy and everything you could need. The grounds and hotel are lovely but the plus point was the very well trained staff who didn't make it look like they had had excellent training! All genuine and everyone from gardner to manager said hello. Lovely concierge with beard- very nice chap. Food in restaurant was great and we enjoyed it so not sure where the bad reviews come from. Yes it's pricey but what do you expect. Breakfast choice very good. Only small let down was the spa. Average massage and then second treatment was in the end room which was next to the pool which was full of kids so noise all the way through- good facial though. We did this on a package so got a decent deal. Very enjoyable trip.

Don't stay in the Keep. We didn't know there was a "dog spa" in the same building. Worse nights sleep listening to a dog bark non stop until I had to call reception at 02:15am to get someone to sort it out. Not what I expected from a place that rates itself 5 star. (Which simply is nowhere near 5 star) Disappointed.

Just had a very relaxing weekend break at Raithwaite Estate. We stayed in The Keep, beautifully laid out, immaculate, very friendly staff, great choice for breakfast, good parking, gorgeous setting. Would recommend using the accommodation here. Our second evening we had a meal in the restaurant, the staff were attentive and friendly, however, the food was very disappointing; the risotto and scallop starters were both good, the main dishes; steak and duck were over cooked/poor quality and the vegetarian option was sent back. The staff gave us a complementary desserts, which apart from the deconstructed Jaffa cake were good, cheese board excellent. Couldn't fault the accommodation or staff. The restaurant lets it down.

Room Tip: For The Keep, wouldn't really want a room on the ground floor, as too near to reception and the...

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Raithwaite. We stayed in a small self contained "apartment" opposite the main hotel with our 7 year old and our cockapoo. The hotel boasts a doggie spa which wasn't open yet but we will try it out next time! There was a dog menu in our room and bed, bowls etc were offered on arrival. We ate in the bar whilst one of the staff very kindly "went the extra mile" and doggie sat our pet!! The food was excellent, including breakfast. The grounds are beautiful and you can walk to the beach at Sandsend directly from the hotel grounds. The most amazing thing about the place are the staff. Each and every one of them were friendly, attentive and polite and would do anything to ensure your stay was perfect. We would highly recommend Raithwaite and can't recommend the accommodation and staff enough.

Room Tip: Rooms outside, opposite the main hotel are perfect for small families and especially for families or...
