Country house hotels can be a nightmare, with old rooms, old plumbing, and endless corridors that go up and down tricky flights of stairs. In contrast, Raithwaite Hall is new, essentially built from scratch a year or two ago. Yes, the facade of the original Raithwaite Hall has been retained (it's at the back of the main building), but everything else is new. There's a restaurant (excellent food), a comfortable bar (excellent food), a spa, a fitness centre, and huge, beautiful flower gardens. The service is most attentive. Next time we come, we intend to stay longer than the two days we spent there.

Room Tip: We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the garden. The view was superb.

Raithwaite was the venue for my daughter's and son in law's wedding day. We had a fantastic time. Everything was perfect, the setting beautiful and every member of staff, without exception, was warm, friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend Raithwaite to anyone who wants to host a special event or have a lovely break away.

My friend, I and my 2 year old daughter turned up here late last night (May) on a whim to stay after an evening in local Runswick Bay. Firstly the attitude of the staff was just great, we needed a sofa bed made up for the little one and the receptionist and one of the wait staff went up to do it. It is just so lovely to see staff, just get on with it. The bar tender stayed late as we finished a bottle of wine, and even then took our bags upstairs. It sounds maybe a little over enthusiastic but I have had plenty a break ruined by staff with not particularly bad attitudes but just not willing to go the extra mile, and these did, so it's worth a mention.

The hotel is lovely, I really liked the open corridor layout, the bar as you walk in is cosy and comfortable and quite private. The rooms were a great size, we had an Executive Suite. There was a gorgeous little balcony where we took breakfast which was again very private. My daughter had loads of room to wander and discover and the balcony was 100% enclosed and not terrifying for a parent! I agree on a previous comment the mirror in the room was rubbish but there was mirrors galore in the bathroom so not a real issue.

We didn't get to partake of the hotel any more than that but to has definitely left a very positive impression.

We stayed in this hotel for our 5th anniversary last weekend. the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the Keep building so when we wanted to go to the main building to use the spa facilities or use their restaurant, they offered us to be taken in the gold buggy car or the land rover, which we used at night, but we did walk it, which literally is a 2 minute walk, and beautiful in itself.. each night there was a pianist playing/ singing in the entrance which was fantastic. The service is fantastic, they really do make you feel like royalty every time you talk to them. we walked down to the beach which was abut a 5 minute walk. the beach was beautiful and i enjoyed going into the little art shops and enjoyed the scenery. would highly recommend this hotel, couldn't fault it!

Room Tip: i stayed in the deluxe room in the keep which had its own balcony with fantastic views. was lovely in the morning, quiet, scenic views and morning frost whilst i sat on the balcony with my hot chocolate

This was my first visit to this part of the country and apart from the weather not being to great, it was a really lovely location. The hotel was very comfortable, the staff were so helpful and welcoming and the location and surroundings are just wonderful. I would certainly recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: The higher floors are less noisy I think
