Just returned from a stay in Raithwate estate to celebrate our wedding anniversary. So impressed from the start, gorgeous grounds, staff waiting to open main door. Everbody was so friendly, service great, food lovely, rooms very nice with a huge bed, covers pulled down and water next to bed at night.Spa was so relaxing and very nice too.Nothing was too much trouble, lovely venue for a wedding or just a nice romantic getaway. Can't wait to return, for longer next time.Would highly recommend this wonderful place.

We went to Raithwaite just for one night before my daughter started University to relax, enjoy the Spa and a trip to Whitby. This will be detailed report as I want the hotel to rectify these few problems which would then turn it into absolute heaven. We arrived early as we wanted to leave the car at Raithwaite and call a taxi to Whitby. A really lovely member of staff (I didn't catch his name but will refer to him as the Super Fixer) said that he would move our car to where we could park near our room and take cases in for us. Another staff member then rang for a taxi and we had a lovely day around Whitby Town. Later we returned to change and when I needed to make a call from my mobile and found no signal a wonderful young receptionist offered me a lift on a golf buggy to a point in a car park with reception or to use the hotel phone which I thought were excellent customer relations solutions! Our room looked lovely initially, confusingly there was a free standing air con unit near the French windows and the machine had a pipe running to the outside which we had to pull in to shut the door. We should have realised there could be a problem at that point...... However we went to Green's for a meal and then for a drink in the hotel bar and returned to our room later to sleep. Unfortunately there was a woman clip clopping for quite a while above us , why do people like making such a noise in a hotel I don't know! She stopped eventually so we went to sleep. But the room became so hot that we were waking a lot as we were just too warm. We didn't want to open a ground floor door so that we could sleep with the air con unit on, as it did not feel a safe thing to do. If I had been alone I would have rung reception but couldn't make a fuss sharing a room with a teenager I'd brought for a relaxing break.
So we went to breakfast very bleary eyed. Breakfast was absolutely lovely and strong coffee helped revive us. For a quick return to Whitby before the Spa 'Taster session'. The massage and facial were quite good and then we went for our afternoon tea that is part of this package. We were directed to a table outside and could see a wedding performed in a really beautiful setting in the grounds. However we waited over 20 minutes to receive a menu despite having been shown to a table. As we were needing to hit the road to get home this was annoying. Then Mr Super Fixer spotted us and came to our aid as he immediately realised that we had been waiting too long. He called a member of staff for us who eventually turned up as we decided to move inside to see if we could get served faster. Luckily we then got a different young waitress who was fantastic! We explained we needed to be quite quick, she served us speedily with humour and we thoroughly enjoyed our tea before setting off. Please fix these points Raithwaite. We would love to return as there are so many wonderful aspects to your hotel but we won't be back unless they are addressed.

Room Tip: Area is very quiet but rooms on lower ground floor with people above are very noisy. Pick a room on...

Just spent a weekend at this beautiful hotel. It's not cheap but well worth the money. There are two buildings to the hotel. We had a room in the keep. The rooms are spacious, with a good sized bathroom and include free wifi. Breakfast is buffet continental or cooked breakfast to order.Golf buggies take you to the main part of the hotel but you can walk in 10 mins. At the keep there is a small dinning room and on the nights we were there(Fri and Sat) there was live music in the lounge area. We ate in the main hotel where they serve bar meals.
There are spa facilities in the main hotel and a lovely swimming pool.
The gardens are well worth a walk round too.
Sands End is just a short drive away.

An interestingly different hotel, set in a perfect location with staff who certainly try to deliver. It is not cheap to stay here but the facilities are of a high standard and the atmosphere is relaxed and inclusive.
Being reliant on an electric wheelchair it can be difficult to find suitable accommodation. Room 1111 in the 'Keep' has an 'accessible' wet room style bathroom with no steps or ridges to negotiate. Both the bathroom and bedroom are large with plenty of circulation space and is very well furnished.
People have different needs and a hotel cannot be expected to meet all of these. The room might though suite more people if the bed was slightly lower to more closely reflect the seat height of a standard wheelchair, there was space under the bed for the legs of a hoist, if a wheelchair could access the balcony and the sink was height adjustable. None of these were major issues for us but doing these changes well could enhance the 'accessibility' of the room and the height adjustable sink would make it more attractive to the able bodied and those who can stand.
The hotel is split into two parts the 'Keep' and the 'Hall'. They are seperated by about 400 metres with extended golf buggies available to shuttle the able bodied between them. For us in August it was a pleasant enough trundle to the main restaurant and bar but the Winter months might offer a different experience! Both parts of the hotel allow easy access to the main areas although the Hall garden and terraces are not currently accessible.
We sampled all 3 restaurants during our stay. All were very good with quick and attentive service at a reasonable price.
Parking at the 'Keep' was on the level and close to the main entrance. Parking close to the Hall would have been more problematic as the car park slopes in two different directions. I did not venture up to the main car park but this is a little way from the hotel is on a hill so might offer its own challenges.
All in all though a lovely hotel and well worth a visit.

This was the second occasion we had stayed at this hotel - this time with friends. We had a really lovely time - can't fault the hotel in any way. This time we stayed in The Keep, which is almost a small boutique hotel in its own right. The rooms, ambience, and service were excellent throughout. We ate in the main restaurant and were very pleased all round. Service was excellent and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: On this occasion we stayed in The Keep. A few hundred yards down from the main hall we really liked...

The room was a nice size but basic. The rooms have no air conditioning and are very warm whilst trying to sleep. Even when the windows are closed you can hear noise outside. Be prepared to be woken during to noise pollution ( even when the Widows are closed).

I'd recommend they train their bar staff on how to make cocktails as I asked for a apple flavoured cocktail..without the Apple!

I don't mind paying for luxury and the prices would certainly lead you to believe that's what your getting.

I have seriously stayed in a better premier Inn.

Very enjoyable overnight stay. Staff were friendly and attentive. The room had a small balcony and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The grounds are lovely. We had an excellent evening meal. Breakfast was good, buffet style.
Booked the pure indulgence package which included Spa treatment. Wish I'd chosen different times because at the time we visited the pool and jacuzzi were open to children which meant it was anything but relaxing!
We opted for a late checkout and had a delicious afternoon tea before leaving to explore nearby Whitby. Would defiantly return.
