In a good location and excellent breakfast, but the negatives are the lasting memories unfortunately. My friend and I stayed one night whilst walking the Cleveland Way, so the prospect of a hot bath was very appealing after a 20 mile trek from Saltburn. Alas in both of our rooms the hot water ran out with the bath nowhere near full. Next morning the water was cold. The radiator in my room was on and windows would not open due to broken sash so it was very hot in the room. TV reception was hopeless but by tweaking the arial I did manage to make sense of the weather forecast.

With a modest investment this place could be so much better. Don't know what the opposition is like in Whitby but it usually pays to be ahead rather than behind.

Wish i could give it a better review. BUT no shower - extractor not working in bathroom - window in bathroom wouldn't open (painted shut) - 2 cobwebs on ceiling in bedroom - tv tiny, hardly watchable when laying on the bed - loo roll ran out (no spare one) - no heating on in bedroom - sauasages at breakfast not very nice - hard to find parking nearby - needs modernising ................................................. on the plus side owners seemed nice & friendly - near to the sea front - most of the breakfast was ok - nice sized bedroom. Doubt we'd stay here again.

We booked in with friends just for an overnight stay on Friday 22 Feb. We were in the room right at the top.It was to cold all the time we were there. The cold kept me awake most of the night. It was to cold to have a shower so we had to make do with a very good wash.Beware of the stairs at the top they are dodgy, small treads and spiralled as well.I fell down near the top and hurt my shoulder.

Room Tip: Keep away from the top room .No 7

Stayed here 2 nights in 2 singles. Exterior slightly tatty but not overly so- just needs a coat of paint. Nice welcoming couple, small clean single rooms with tea and coffee, biscuits and en- suite. Absolutely cracking breakfast with a surprising amount of choice- full English, vegetarian English, poached eggs on toast, boiled eggs and Whitby kippers etc. Plus orange , apple and tomato juice and a good range of cereals.

It's only a seven or 8 minute walk from the b and b to the west end of the harbour, down a steep hill, so about 15 minutes coming back. It's in a quiet part of town.

Very nice comfortable stay, at a bargain price. There will I suppose be better b and bs in Whitby, but I would bet the vast majority are worse, and this place really is a bargain at the rate we paid. Will look to stay here again the next time I am in Whitby, which says it all really.

Carole and Tony made us welcome immediately. Breakfast was very good and the rooms very clean. The only thing that let it down was not having a proper shower, only a showerhead to use over the bathtub, which was very difficult to do as there was no shower curtain.

We were happy to be able to get a late booking here for Folk Week and booked through the tourist office. The room was at the top of the house - lots of steps. It was clean and had usual tea coffee etc. The venting on the bathroom could do sorting and you cant leave the bathroom window open at night as the door rattles but otherwise it was ok. The breakfast food was good. Great central spot for the folk week, right by the Festival Office. Car parking is on the road and you can drive round for ages to get a spot where you can drop off your luggage. Large car park nearby though with parking free from 6pm to 9am.
