“Luxurious short break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2012

This is a friendly and discrete b&b with rooms that are beautifully and luxuriously furnished. We felt very comfortable, cosy and well looked after. The food was beautiful and plentiful, which made this a really good value stay and the dvd and book library would have been well used if the weather wasn't so good. It is also situated close by to a pretty beach, making it an ideal short and romantic break! Loved this and would definitely choose to come back again!

Writing this on behalf of my parents as they r a little computer 'shy' :)
Couldn't rate this place enough and they have been around!
Place was pristine, bedroom beautiful and the homemake cakes and bread were delicious.
Sharon and Paul were wonderful hosts, friendly polite and couldn't be more helpful.
Would definitely recommend.

What a terrific B&B. Four of us used a company to book our hotels while we walk the Cleveland Way so we don't always know what to expect. Most are good but this was excellent. You couldn't have got a better room or service if you were paying top money in a top London hotel. We were given a very welcome afternoon tea on arrival with home-made cake at no extra charge; there were home-made biscuits in the rooms which are beautifully appointed and plenty big enough to hold you and your luggage and still allow you to walk around comfortably. No need to feel claustrophobic here unlike some hotels. The house is a good location on a wide street not far from the beach.

A stated in the other reviews, this is a model B&B. Lots of little touches that make the difference between good and great, homemade cakes available all day in the dining room, fresh milk in flasks for you tea. Thanks for a great weekend. Look forward to visiting again.

Captain Cook would never have left Whitby if he had been staying at the Abbotsleigh B&B. This beautiful old home in a quiet neighborhood right next to city center has been charmingly refurbished and the breakfast is cooked as you like it by a former restauranteur. After a deep night's sleep near the ocean and the kind of food you dream of, you stroll to the broad sandy beach, the bustling tourist center with shopping, boatloads of fish and chips and maybe even a trip on a replica of Cook's ship Endeavor. Your hosts Sharon and Paul serve tea and cake in the afternoon, and their own lemon curd is justly famous. No stone is left unturned to make sure you know how to find your way in the area, and the welcoming atmosphere could not be more pleasant. This is THE place to stay in Whitby.

Room Tip: We saw all of them, and they all have charm and comfort. The showers are fabulous.

It was our 25th wedding anniversary so we wanted to stay somewhere special and chosing abbotsleigh we were not disappointed. We personally stayed in the 'Ammonite Room' which was beutifully appointed, spotlessly clean throughout and had a stunning wetroom. As well as all this the matress and bedding were first class. The facilities were suberb ranging from a real coffee maker and home made biscuits to a flatscreen TV with built in DVD player with a selection of movies. The hosts Sharon and Paul were most welcoming, informative and genuinely nice people. Breakfast was beautiful all made with local produce and homemade bread. All in all what a great find and hope to return in the near future; a perfect and memorable weekend. Would recomend to all. Many thanks to Sharon and Paul.

Paul & Janet, Grimsby.
