“Absolutely fantastic”
Reviewed 24 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Hi, this is probably 4 time I have stayed at the cottage and I will keep on going back simply because it is gorgeous. Each time we have walked with our bags to the front door we feel as if we have 'come home'. Absolutely everything you could ever need is there. The courtyard is so peaceful and Whitby itself is just fabulous, no matter what the weather.

Thank you Colin, we'll be back

A really big thank you for your lovely review once again, becoming a bit of a habit you visiting Gulls Cry.
It's so nice that guests such as yourself feel we have done enough to make you revisit to enjoy it repeatedly, and bring along others to share it with you.

Really appreciate you kind & generous comments. Also pleased you pointed out to me and others regarding parking permit for £5, wasn't aware myself! Will add to site for future guests, always looking for more ways to help and advise.

Another really appreciated review, I like the "Gull" nickname, lol.
I find the name very apt' with the birds always reminding me of why its called so. Whitby would'nt be Whitby without the cheeky blighters, and there daring raids on unsuspecting guests trying to eat there Fish n Chips, without having them stolen! Don't turn your back on one.

“Absolutely cosy comfy home from home”
Reviewed 27 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Gulls cry cottage is a beautiful cosy cottage away from the hustle and bustle but within easy access of the town centre. My daughter ,son in law and my 3month old Grandaughter stayed with my husband and i in Gulls cry cottage for 4 nights in March. We all loved every minute we stayed there and did not want to go home. The cottage is warm comfortable and clean with everything you need a home from home so what more do you want ? nothing. We will definatly book again
A nice touch was Colin contacting us to check that everything was ok for us when we arrived and he was contactable if we had any problems, the only problem we had was having to leave and go home :(
There is no parking outside the cottage but we found a space near by.

Many many thanks for yet another wonderful review. When we set out to refurbish Gulls Cry we did not expect it to take so much hard work & determination.
It seems all our efforts were not in vain with the insistance of Brian, the elderly Master Craftsman chap who was the brains and expertise behind it all. With a little help from me!

“A stunning cottage in the heart of Whitby :) x”

We were looking for a last minute break to celebrate our Twin girls turning 1. We e-mailed Colin on Boxing Day not expecting to get a response but he came back to us straight away. We were delighted that the dates were availiable.
We were very happy with all the communication that we received up until our point of stay and on the day that we were travelling to the property. Colin was extreemly helpful and friendly.
Upon arriving at the cottage we were greeted by Colin and my husband was shown around the cottage. The cottage is beautiful and restored to perfection. Every little detail of the cottage made our stay even more enjoyable. The Christmas tree was still up and it was decorated with effort, taste and in keeping with the period of the cottage and this is the same for all of the other details of the cottage it has been carefully decorated and is lovely.
My personal favorite thing is the log burner which we only used on the first night but it was lovely sitting by the fire and the Christmas tree - heaven :)
The location of the cottage is brilliant as you are right in the heart so come out of the property and the habour is only a few streets away for us this was great as we pushed our prams out and went walking which was lovely (no stairs to get to the cottage - which for us was great with prams).
I would say that it wasn't nessarily easy staying at the cottage with such young babies but to be honest it is not easy to take them anywhere at the moment as they do tend to try to get into everything, we also had to move some furniture around to fit the travel cots into one of the bedrooms but were fully aware that we may need to do this as Colin had informed us - this was no big issue for us.
I am a bit of a neat freak and I must say that the cottage was spotless and very very clean.
Big thanks to Colin & Linda for allowing us to stay in their A***** cottage - I know that with the beautful outside seating area this cottage would be even more amazing to stay in during the high season and summer months. We would certainly return for another break xx

We (3 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed in the cottage for 3 nights and not one of us wanted to come home. The cottage is so welcoming and we felt at home straight away. The finishing touches are to such a high standard and everything we needed was there. The bathroom is lovely and the shower so powerful, the sofas were so comfy and the log burner was a treat. We cannot wait to book again. Thank you

Yet again I am so grateful that I am getting such thoughtful and positive feedback. I have recently installed the full Sky Satellite package in the lounge which had been only freesat & of course it also now has wifi throughout the cottage.
