Gulls Cry is a beautiful cottage and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. It was spotlessly clean and very well thought out. I couldn't believe how old it was yet renovated to such a high standard with all mod cons. We also adored the little courtyard and summer house, which was an added bonus. I loved the fact that there was washing up liquid, tissues, sachets of salt, sugar etc... for your use. Perfectly located, just a couple of minutes walk to the harbour and all the lovely restaurants. The Co op is just a 10 minute walk for groceries and if you just need odd bits or run out of milk, there's a Poundland just round the corner from the cottage The owner, Colin is so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and he messaged after we arrived to check that everything was ok. We walked up to the Abbey which was tough on the legs but well worth it. Visited Scarborough which wasn't overly impressed with but absolutely loved Robin Hoods Bay. We also went on the Whitby ghost walk which lasts an hour and was very humorous and definitely recommend. We ate in The Moon and Sixpence one night which was very good but quite expensive. Loved Abbey Wharf, over the bridge which does great fish n chips, scampi and is very pretty in the evening with all it's twinkly lights and great harbour views. If we returned to Whitby we would definitely go back to Gulls Cry and highly recommend it.
Great central location yet the cottage is tucked away in a lovely quiet corner. Only a short walk to the beach and amenities. Cottage was absolutely spotless and so cosy. Great to have an enclosed patio area with summer house for my Grandson (2yrs old) Lovely to have the log burner for cosy evenings after long days out. Colin (the owner) was very helpful with local information and nothing was too much trouble. Hope to visit again.
Very reasonably priced for what it is. Conveniently located. The proprietor has done a fantastic job renovating the place to a very high standard. I will recommend this to all my family and friends.
My boyfriend and I stayed here in the middle of February and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay! The cottage is beautiful and well kept. Everything has been thought of from the little tubs of sauces to the pre downloaded movies on the tv.
We had an absolutely wonderful time here and we will definitely be staying again!
Would highly recommend
Had a wonderful weekend stay in this beautiful cottage! Absolutely faultless.... the location was central but tucked away which added to its charm! From entering the cottage, we felt so at home.... It's beautifully decorated and furnished, well equipped, warm, cosy and the log burner adds to the ambience! Colin was great to deal with and went out of his way to ensure we all had a great weekend - even a courtesy call when we arrived to make sure all was ok. It was amazing, our favourite cottage ever! We'll be back ... Can't wait to stay there in the summer months and spend time in the lovely courtyard and summer house! Thank you for sharing your home with us and helping 3 generations make happy memories!!
The location is perfect for quick access to Whitby town. Lots of shops and restaurants within 5 mins walk. We stayed here for a family birthday weekend away and it was a great size for 5 people. Very clean and tidy with beautiful decor throughout. The log burner was nice on a winters evening. It was great to have a television in all of the bedrooms. We felt it was a home from home and have already booked our next stay at Gulls Cry Cottage. Can't wait!
The location is very convenient for shops, restaurants and exploring the sea front and around the quaint streets of Whitby but Gulls Cry is also a quiet and charming spot to enjoy relaxing at home. We spent two weeks over Christmas and New Year with our adult children, we were 5 in all. The house is unusually well equipped, absolutely spotless and everything to a high standard. We liked the stylish bathroom, masses of hot water, plentiful towels in such a charming and comfortable cottage. Colin, the owner, was very helpful. He obtained good logs for the woodburner, parking permits for us all and set up a Christmas tree and lots of nice Christmas touches, even down to Santa tea towels! There was a very generous welcome pack waiting for us. It was all so convenient and comfortable; we could hop out for a walk on the pier and then come back for a sit by the fire and enjoy the impressively extensive wide screen tv channels. We had a marvellous Christmas and New Year with our family and Gulls Cry made it so easy and stress free. Many people book short breaks but we enjoyed every minute of our two weeks in Gulls Cry, warm and cosy in the cottage and everything on the doorstep for enjoying Whitby and all it has to offer.
