“Small but cosy”
Reviewed 20 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

Cosy cottage, hidden away but central to Whitby. Very warm, clean. Ideal for a couple and a dog! Owner incredibly helpful. She left bread and milk and local goodies which was a nice touch when you are only around for a weekend.

“If you want something unique, something special... you've found it!”
Reviewed 11 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

From the start this place was different, the owner Kaaren could not have been more helpful, precise directions which brought us straight to the shiny red door of No 7 Cliff Street... and okay, unloading and parking was a bit iffy, but forewarned is forearmed and we landed without any problems whatsoever.
Again we were told about the steps up to 7c so we had braced our selves for a climb...but it was not so bad. Behind the red door is a bit like walking into a Harry Potter movie, down the passageway, through the yard, up the steps past No 7 1/2 through the gate and over the bridge into a small but delightful little cottage.
Bolthole Cottage is perfect, and if anything is not, Kaaren makes it so...

We loved our break here, its in the perfect place, you can reach the harbour and the beaches within 10 minutes, it takes a few minutes more to get to the 199 stairs and depending on how fit you are... 15 mins to climb them.
It isn't a place for anyone with mobility problems, as Kaaren made a point of telling us when booking, but Whitby is a tricky place for folk who have mobility issues anyway, even though the local folk go out of their way to help.
I have never been to Whitby and I was so surprised to find that dogs were welcome nearly everywhere... and even more surprised that pet owners were so, so responsible about carrying bags to clear any mess their dogs made, in fact Whitby proved to be the cleanest town I've been to for a long while... I'll be back and so will the dog!

“Great location and perfect retreat.”
Reviewed 3 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We had a lovely break away at Bolt Hole Cottage. It's tucked away from the hustle and bustle , yet minutes away from the shops, beach and much more!! Kaaren was very kind in leaving us cakes, bread , milk and beer and biscuits as a welcome pack !!! never had that before. The cottage had everything we needed and was clean , tidy and cosy. There was lots to do and all on your doorstep.Thank you Kaaren for a lovely and much needed break at your beautiful cottage. Would definitely come back again!

“Wonderful Whitby ”
Reviewed 27 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Had a great week at Whitby. The cottage, which is a just a stone's throw from the centre of town suited out needs perfectly. The courtyard outside was a sun trap and Kaaren had left a lovely welcome pack including local beers and cakes.
We'll definitely book this cottage again for our next visit to this beautiful town.
