Lovely hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and we also stayed for dinner on the second night and it was excellent. No complaints at all. food was served silver service..

Room Tip: We were on the top floor - no lift but the room was very nice. Need to be fit for the stairs!

Booked a 2 night stay having never been to Whitby via a groupon offer. Previous reviews describe the hotel as a bit dated, which it is, but this doesn't detract from the fact that everything else about it is brilliant. Breakfast is silver service and the food is excellent. We had the 4 course dinner one night; again silver service and at £18 with complimentary glass of wine is terrific value. The food again was fantastic. The bedroom and the public areas are spotless. All the staff who work there are lovely and very professional. We will definitely be back.

This hotel is like stepping back in time for fabulous friendly efficient service. Decor is dated but everywhere is immaculate. It was so lovely to have silver service for breakfast and dinner and nothing was too much trouble from reception to waiting staff. We would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a lovely cosy and comfortable hotel. We don't normally stay in this type of hotel tend to go for modern and boutique style but maybe should reconsider in future. Only slight complaint is we had blankets on bed and even on top of the lovely crisp white sheets were a little itchy so a duvet would of been nice, but certainly didn't spoil our stay. Car parking a bonus too.

What to say about this hotel other than fantastic. Everything was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent with 3 choices on the starter and main course and it was very difficult to choose from the sweet trolley so many fantastic Sweet. Nothing was to much trouble for the very friendly staff and the service was secound to none. We were part of a coach party and were treated no differant to any other guests. Deffinately one to return to and there should be no need to even consider any other hotels in Whitby this surely must be the best.

Room Tip: We had a 2nd floor room which was very quite

Having purchased a a three night break at the saxonville (through groupon) for my parents 50th wedding anniversary I thought I had found a really good surprise for them both.my mother phoned the saxonville today with dates in hand only to be rudely told they had only a one night stay maximum, and that she should have booked earlier than this, and there was was nothing they could do about the situation.(not so much as a "sorry")the deal through groupon gave till the 21st May to take the break,so the rude telephone manner seemed a total surprise.i understand this is a popular hotel in Whitby so why bother with groupon deals if you are not going to honour them.between the saxonville and groupon I feel very let down and disappointed in the way the saxonville spoke to my mother.manners cost nothing

We have recently stayed at this hotel and had a lovely time. The staff are all wonderful and are very friendly and attentive, giving great service at all times. The rooms are clean, warm and relaxing. We had the 5 course dinner which was delicious and we'll worth the £18 per person price. Breakfast was also delicious. We will certainly stay here again.

I've eaten lunch here a few times, always part of a large group. Quality is good, traditional food with silver service. There is a small bar for pre-dinner/lunch aperitifs, with good selection of drinks. Quality and value for money excellent.
