“Good food and company”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

Ate here whilst staying at the campsite. Good range of pub food, reasonable price, huge portions! Only drawback was I didn't have room for pudding. Would highly recommend.
Variety for vegetarians too :)
The campsite was lovely - one of the best shower blocks/toilets I have ever seen and we do a lot of camping.
Owner couldn't have been more helpful.
Properly dog friendly - tho some of the other dog owners needed educating in picking up their own dog mess on the dog walk area

“Regular customers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013

If you want an excellent home cooked meal that is value for money then we highly recommend The Stiddy. We are regular customers here during our caravaning season at Whitby and have tried most of the pubs in the area but none can beat this friendly local hostelry. Large portions have meant we rarely try a pudding but these too are good old fashioned favourites. Staff are friendly and helpful , nothing is too much trouble.

“Food lets it down”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed in The Stiddy for one night as friends were staying on the campsite. The rooms were quite good, newly refurbished with a nice big shower room. The bed was really comfortable and overall the accommodation had a nice feel to it. Our friends stayed outside in one of the camping pods, it was a cold night and the pod was lovely and warm . All seemed just what we had expected, having read good reviews on the food we were all looking forward to a nice meal. The meal took an hour to arrive but we had been pre warned and as we were in a big group we were happy just to wait and have a few beers. This is the points were the disappointment started. Between us we had the Stiddy Burgers, Sausage and Mash, a curry and the Mushroom Stroganoff. Best of a bad bunch were the burgers and the curry, however the Stiddy Burger was a cheap frozen burger slapped in a cheap white breadcake, the curry was slightly better but nothing more than average. The sausage and mash was made with really cheap gristly sausages with lumpy mash, and the worst of the bunch was the Mushroom stroganoff which was literally a pile of mushrooms on top of some rice with a watery sauce that had sunk straight to the bottom. We politely mentioned to the waitress that the food was really bad. To which she replied "oh ok" and took the full plates away. That was the last we heard, no apology and no refund. It's a shame because we would all defiantly like to go back but as there is nowhere else to eat we wouldn't.

stiddy pub , the opening hrs are 7pm and dinners at week end 12till 2-30 .
would be improved by the hedges trimming so we could see a little more of the fantastic sea veiw.I realise that there would be alittle more wind if that happened just a thought.

“Bank Holiday Weekend at The Stiddy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed for three nights at The Stiddy and had an excellent break. We were with friends who were camping on the site but we had opted to stay at the Pub.

Breakfast each morning set you up for the day and was delicious: we ate once in the evening: the food was excellent and there was plenty of it! Our room was comfortable and clean.

One tip for those who wish to go Whitby is catch the bus outside: they are every 30 mins and save the hassle of parking in town.

Finally thanks to David and the team for looking after us so well. We can highly recommend The Stiddy and hope to return!
