We called in after a long walk along the Cleveland Way on a warm afternoon ready to quench our thirsts. Normally an old fashioned pub like this would meet with our hearty approval but it was not to be. The real ale selection was poor. Landlord, allegedly always on, and to which I was particularly looking forward wasn't available and the beer I eventually had was only just drinkable. Most people appeared to drinking fizzy stuff which might have something to do with it. Worst of all for a single 25ml measure of Gordon's and two small tonics we were charged £6.10!
