We stumbled upon this place to eat whilst Googling for eateries that allowed dogs. This brought up the Trip Advisor reviews for the place and was generally recommended.
On arriving at the restaurant the outside looked a little bit grubby, not very loved and was in need of a wash and brush up. The interior was clean and tidy. They had a room on the second floor that was assigned for people with dogs in tow.
As we arrived shortly after opening there were no other diners, hence not much atmosphere. There was Costa Rican music being played on the first floor that didn't quite reach the second floor. A speaker on the 2nd floor would be nice.
Welcome & Staff
The waiter was pleasant and chatty. Once seated we were given a complimentary Rhum Punch. This was cool, refreshing and lovely tasting.
We had read that booking was recommended. Therefore we telephoned early afternoon on the day we intended to visit. It went to voicemail so left a message, contact number with a request for a return call to confirm booking. Nobody returned our call so chanced it and turned up at 4.00pm. The place was deserted (no one came during our 1 1/2 hours there) so we had the place to ourselves. The waiter explained their answer phone was not working properly, hence no reply.
Food - Starter
The waiter explained they did not have a Starter menu but people generally bought a Main and shared it between 2 people. We shared a Quesadilla - a filling of cheese, onion and chicken sandwiched between 2 Tortillas (toasted). This was cut into 8 pieces and drizzled with sour cream. Tasty enough but contained very little chicken. A small dish of hot chilli sauce was also available. This was extremely hot and spicy and just a little goes a long way.
Food - Main
On recommendation of the waiter we chose the National Dish of Casado with white fish. This was tasty and filling. There was a choice of 2 sauces and we opted for the creamy garlic sauce. Plenty of fresh chopped vegetables and salad.
Food - Dessert
No special Costa Rican dessert available. A small choice of ice creams only.
We were a party of two, shared a Main as a Starter, had a further Main each. We had 3 rum flavoured beers between us and one small sparking water = £40.50.
We enjoyed our visit, the food and the fact we could take our doggies. We would visit again.
