“Excellent service and food, limited vegetarian options”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

A very clean, cosy little cafe, staff are friendly and welcoming. Food freshly cooked and tasty as a result. Proper chips, yummy. Dog friendly, only one little negative, there are limited vegetarian options. Would definately reccommend

“Great food and down to earth friendly staff.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

We visited Whitby a family of 4 + dog for a day out on the Easter weekend. Looking for a light lunch were more than happy with the standard for food here it far surpassed our expectations. We had 3 hof beef sandwiches and a meatballs and pasta and they were all top notch. Staff were really friendly genuine and chatty. As a bonus the Grapevine is Dog friendly and they gave Tilly (our dog) some sausage pieces and some cut-offs from the beef which was really nice.
We will go back when we visit again and would not hesitate to recommend to all who are planning a visit.

“Friendly Food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

I love this little café, tucked away in a quiet street in Whitby, we walked right round Whitby looking for a light bite and after eating there on a previous visit we went back for more. The food is out of this world, all home cooked and well presented. The place is clean, small and the owners are really friendly! The menu boasts a fantastic selection of food including, my choice, the hot (melt in your mouth) beef sandwich with caramelised onions and gravy and my boyfriend had a chicken club baguette, everything was cooked fresh and the meat was grilled! People should support small businesses like this one more often!

“very poor”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

Called in yesterday having seen the sign outside that it was 8th out of 100 and odd in Whitby on tripadvisor. This rating gave us high expectations but it didn't live up to them. We both ordered the hot beef sandwich and two hot drinks. The drinks came first, without a teaspoon. I waited for someone to appear from the kitchen to ask for one, and eventually had to go and ask, before my drink got cold. Then the hot beef sandwiches were delivered, a small soft white bun which seemed lost on the dinner plate it was served upon. At just short of a fiver it looked very sad! A bit of salad garnish or something would have made it look a little more interesting and more worth it. No serviettes or utensils were supplied so we used our hands to eat and our own tissues to wipe our faces and fingers. will not be going back, and felt conned by the no 8 rating- which I think is a joke!

We can't praise this enough. Great food, very friendly and welcoming, we were only in Whitby for the day, called in for coffee on arrival and returned for lunch! Thanks Chris and Lynn, we'll see you again
