very clean beach and safe for families. or . If theweather is good you can get some nice food at the pavilion which you are allowed to take on the beach, or there is a nice little beach bar were you get some light refreshments.

The beach isnt very nice but it is a calming atmosphere with a large amount of firm sand. The water, as expected is freezing though.

This beach is quite lovely, and much nicer than Robin Hood's Bay a short distance away. We found it was far more expansive and walking comfortably along the water's edge was a delight, despite the freezing water. Climbing up the hill provides fantastic views of the seascape!

This is such a lovely beach. When the tide is out it is a wide expanse of clean, firm sand. Safe for kids to run and let off steam and when we visited in June this year the waves were nice and small just good for little ones to paddle. Very gently shelving. Although Whitby itself was really busy there really didn't,t seem to be hardly anyone actually on the beach so plenty of room to wander and spread out. Signs indicated that dogs are now supposed to be confined to the far end of the beach which is good although we did see someone ignoring that. Few donkeys on certain days and a small little funfair but the star is the beach. Pretty beach huts at the far end which are for hire and had a lovely cup of coffee at the cafe down that end. Would recommend, just make sure you get to Whitby early as the parking can be difficult.
