After spending a day in Whitby, we decided to stop over for the night. We saw the Bagdale hall hotel situated in the town center and decided to give it a try, one of the reasons being that it had ample car parking. The hotel was quiet that night and the restaurant was closed, but that was not a big issue to us as we were keen to try out on of the many fish restaurants in the town. We were given a room in Bagdale Lodge which is situated just up the hill from the man hotel. Our double room was very spacious and warm and the bed was comfortable, though the fact that there was only one chair in the room meant that one of us had to use the bed to sit on, which was not ideal. The breakfast was super. We got the juice, cereal, full English, tea & toast, and I could not fault any of it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very olde worlde and steeped in history which made it an interesting place to be. The only negative point about our stay there would be the steep walk to and from the lodge to the hotel which might be an issue to anyone who was not too good on their legs.

Room Tip: If you are not very good walking up and down steep inclines, ask for a room in the main hotel.

Bagdale Hall Hotel is a wonderful old hotel every room is a pleasure to be in
Very individual , the staff are extremely friendly although by no means silver service
Unfortunately the food does not to live up to the standard of the surroundings, shame,
I would still recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Room Tip: Rooms are all individual so it would be a matter of taste but room two is wonderful

We love this hotel and have returned for our second time, it is so lovely, clean and historical, great location and very friendly staff nothing is ever too much trouble.

The rooms are excellent, we have stayed in the Bagdale no 4 on our first visit and also the main hall room 6 this weekend 21st Sept, both rooms were very comfortable and very spacious.

We ate in the restaurant for an evening meal on our first visit and as the second visit was my partners birthday I decided to book us in for another evening meal. The food is first class, very homely, filling and very good value for money.

The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to Whitby front and well within walking distance, parking - although there are two car parks available at the hotel can be an issue if you don't arrive early.

We would recommend this hotel to families, couples or single people and we would return again very soon.

Room Tip: Stayed in Room 19, Bagdale no 4 and also main hall room 6 both very good rooms, exceptionally clean and very large.

Looking for hotels in Whitby for a last minute weekend away and stumbled across the Bagdale Hall on Trip and what a find!
Lovely historical building with tons of charm. Stayed in Room 5 in the main hotel which although on the small side compared to others plus a squeaky bed and soft mattress was more than adequate. Bathroom was superb and the whole room was absolutely spotless (the whole hotel was spotless). The only reason I would mark the hotel down to a 4 out of 5 would be the squeaky bed and mattress which some may say I was being a little nit picking but other than that first class.
Staff were so friendly from check in to check out and the breakfast was fantastic!
As for alternative rooms the cleaning lady showed us round a few others in the main hotel which were absolutely amazing so when booking ask for the large rooms with 3 pc suites in them!.......just beautiful.
All in all we had a fab stay and again must reiterate how lovely ALL the staff were. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: ask for a large room in the main hotel............amazing!!
