“Enjoyable stay”

Stayed for the weekend with husband and friends. We stayed in a small double room which was more than adequate. Bed was comfy and the room was clean. Pleasant complimentory toiletries and the towels were lovely and white. Breakfast had good selection and the cooked breakfast was tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location was excellent with lots of shops pubs and restaurants nearby, however its on a small but steep hill. Only issue was the plug socket in the bedroom was not near the mirror, making drying my hair difficult. I would stay here again.

We went on a kgb voucher deal which was a birthday present. Booking was simple and straight forward.

Had an email 5 days before arrival date confirming booking and details on parking. Hotel has no parking facilities. Checked on parking websites myself and found the marina car park to be the cheapest (£6.00 for 24 Hrs, but remember to return next day to pay for a further 24 hrs) and only 5 min walk to hotel.

The reception was warm and friendly, the room was large and very clean. We had a bath, with the amount of space available full size bath would have been better. Also vent for bathroom was very loud could hear next rooms also.

You had option of dining in the bar area in the evening. Food reasonably priced Breakfast was served in the same area in the morning. There was excellent option for breakfast, cereals, juice. tea and coffee etc eat as much as you want along with a cooked breakfast.

Not all rooms have view to harbour or Abbey, ours looked to the street, which one would think could get quiet noisey in peak season.

Overall a pleasant stay for the 2 nights we were there, would stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose one higher up and away from the street.

We went ln a kgb deal and was good value for 2 nights b and b and bottle of wine. Our room was fine with big bathroom and the breakfast was adequate. Although for some reason everyone except me had tomatoe with full cooked breakfast but mine came without.
We ate in the vault one night and the food was excellent and great service so would recommend highly.

Had many short breaks in Whitby, first time stay at the Resolution. Returned today from a two night break. Very friendly welcome on arrival from Andy ( the owner ), check in smooth and swift. Room fine, towels changed daily, good shower, plenty of tea, coffee and even biscuits. Could possibly do with having information on hotel facilities in the room, and a little outside noise, the room being on the first floor. We also had a problem with the TV remote control, which was resolved instantly. Breakfast very good, self serve juice, cereal, toast, drinks etc, and staff serving cooked breakfast of your choice. Ate in the bar one evening, sirloin steak and braised beef ( Mrs M still raving about it ), and in the Vault the second evening - a very special fine dining experience, and well worth paying a little extra. Will return.

We have just returned from a fabulous 2 day stay. From stepping through the door of the hotel every member of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had room 208 which had obviously been recently refurbished to a very good standard. We had a great view of the abbey. We ate in The Vault restaurant one night and the food was superb. Breakfast was also very good. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

Stayed at the Resolution on a KGB deal. it was £59 for a one night stay with dinner included. I paid an extra £10 for a Abbey view room. We have stayed at this hotel over 12 months ago whilst it was in the middle of refurbishment so presumed all would be brand new. Our room definelty had not been refurbished. Walls were scuffed and dirty, bathroom had mould all round shower and toilet. The windows were the old sash type and the paint was peeling off and the outside of the window was covered in seagull droppings. We had to get up at 2a.m. and stuff newspaper all round the window as the wind was rattling the frame really loudly ! Paying for a view was a waste of money as although you could see the Abbey the first thing you did see were the buildings opposite and some were flats so we were on eye level with them. The main bar was still tatty, we had a drink when we arrived at 12 then left to spend the day out. we returned for a drink at 7 and sat at the same table , our glasses hadnt been moved nor was the table wiped ! The price included a 3 course meal in the new Vault restuarant. The set menu looked really impressive, with starters such as mussels, scallops, duck terraine etc, and the mains looked equally as good. I had the mussels and chorizo starter and my hubby had the duck terraine. The mussels were ok but the chorizo was rock hard, my hubbys duck was tasteless. We both had the chicken stuffed with crabmeat for main , the chicken was nicley cooked but the crabmeat was underneath the chicken and it was awful, no idea what kind of sauce it was but it was very bitter. The desserts were the best thing about the whole meal. Such a shame as the table settings were lovely and the staff really attentive. We were really dissapointed with our stay and shall not be returning. The saving grace of this hotel are the staff and the location. The staff are really pleasant and helpful and the location is perfect for exploring Whitby as its right in the centre with a pay and display car park a short walk away ( £5 for 24 hours ).

Room Tip: I would ask for a refurbished room. We stayed in room 207 so do avoid that one !
