“Very enjoyable long weekend-3 night stay.”
Reviewed 2 August 2011

A clean guest house, coupled with friendly hosts, made our long weekend an enjoyable stay.
We stayed in room 24 which comprises of a large king-size bed, accompanied by a matching suite of furniture. Two windows let plenty of light and fresh air in. Being high up(a lift is available) this particular room allowed for a descent view, though not of the full front (you are still able to view part of the seafront toward Captain Cook's statue, and watch the world go by if you wish).
Breakfast was really enjoyable and appetising, with a good spanned range to cater for some differing tastes from different countries. Restaurant staff where very pleasant and friendly, and made sure you felt comfortable.
I asked for a basket of fruit and a bouquet of flowers for my wife for our room, and was particularly pleased with the arrangements of both - my wife commented how 'beautiful' they were (he he-I can still sometimes get it right after 30 yrs of marriage)-Thanks for that Hosts!
The room and bedding was cleaned daily, the bathroom was kept very clean, with all the necessities provided should you need / require them.
Tea/coffee/biscuits were available as was a TV-
I believe the hosts haven’t had the hotel for that long, but you can tell they have worked hard so far (it shows) to provide an enjoyable relaxing stay-
Thank you 'Hosts' and 'All Staff' for such a nice pleasant enjoyable 'Long Weekend'.-
Geoff & Ann

Probably one of the worst hotels I've stayed in - dingy room overlooking the bins at the back. Water proof matress cover directly under the sheets made for hot and sweaty sleeping. Very shabby areas in the hotel generally. Breakfast menu booking overly complicated and had to decide what you wan't the night before. I was shocked when told this was becasue they mey have to get ingredients out of the freezer - including the kippers (frozen kippers in Whitby!?). Definitely not worth the money we paid - have had much better rooms in London for the same price.

My husband and i stayed for three nights at The Sandbeck and found it a very pleasant place to stay with friendly hosts. Our room No 7 was very comfortable with a large bay window in which you can sit looking out at the sea harbour area which was so lovely. We not only had tea, coffee, hot chocolate making facilities in our room but also packets of biscuits and a KitKat and club chocolate biscuit which were replenished each day. we found the location ideal and just minutes away from the town. Overall a lovely guest house and highly recommended for a hassle free holiday.

Stayed for one night in mid week at the beginning of July with my wife and 4YO son. Found the hotel clean and comfortable. Was provided with a family room, which had a separate bedroom with bunk beds for the little one.

The hotel has amazing views and is located within easy walking distance to the center of Whitby. At the end of the day we especially enjoyed the guest lounge, which had plenty of games, etc. to entertain the boy and the honesty bar for Mum and Dad!

Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family, and will certainly look to stay here again next time we are overnighting in this area. Would further recommend that you contact the hotel when booking as David and Kay will do their very best to place you in the room most suitable for your specific needs.

We stayed at the Sandbeck for 2 nights on the 4th and 5th July in room23. Having stayed in lots of hotels/B&B`s over the years, we would have no hesitation in going back to the Sandbeck. The room was a good size as was the en-suite, and everything was spotlessly clean. Lots of nice touches and very friendly proprietors. It is also in an excellent position, We will certainly be returning to the Sandbeck in the future when next in the Whitby area.

We stayed two nights at the end of June to celebrate our wedding anniversary and chose room 14 which is a suite with fabulous views from both windows overlooking the sea front. The furnishings are excellent and comfortable, I would prefer to also have a chair in the bedroom but this did not detract from our stay. The fridge in the room was very useful and we also enjoyed the courtesey drinks and chocolate provided. The en-suite bathroom had a bath and combined shower. The public lounge had great views, magazines, games and an honesty bar. Kay and David are excellent hosts and we shall definately be returning and would recommend staying at the Sandbeck.

Had a really nice stay at the Sandbeck, 25th June to 1st July. My wife and I wanted a few days away to chill out and relax and this fitted the bill exactly. We stayed in room 6 which has a little alcove off the main room, a bay window with a table and two chairs, and a lovely sea view. This was ideal as we do not go out late and we could just sit and watch the world go by. The room itself was more than adequate, clean and with a full bathroom suite. Breakfast was the usual full english with a good choice of cereals, fruit, yogurt etc. We would definately return if we came back to Whitby.
