“English B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

Lovely guest house with a comfortable queen size bed. The room was nicely decorated with a comfortable couch to sit and read or watch television. Good bathroom with a nice big walk in shower. Very good breakfast with daily specials. The owners were lovely people with a wealth of knowledge on whitby.

We booked 'The Suite' which is the best room in the house and were not disappointed. A gorgeous, spacious room with wonderful on-suite facilities and as a bonus we had private parking off the road which made a big difference. The owners were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was superb and you could pretty much chose what ever you wanted, how ever you wanted it. I can't praise 'The Sandpiper' highly enough and will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: The Suite is slightly more but well worth the extra money.

We booked one night at Sandpiper house as a last minute short break. What a wonderful place to stay. The owners could not do enough for us. The room was furnished to a high quality with little additions making our stay really comfortable. The breakfast was superb. Will definitely go back.

I was struck by the friendliness and efficiency of the manner in which our booking was managed but this nothing compared to what we found when we arrived for our extended weekend stay.

I cannot recommend this lovely B&b enough. The warmth of the owners, the cleanliness & furnishing of the rooms, the quality & choice for breakfast are first class. The really convenient location was a bonus.

We are going back to Whitby and we will be staying here.

Room Tip: Can't say about other rooms yet but we stayed in the king size and it was great

From the outside the Sandpiper doesn't stand out from the many B&Bs in this part of Whitby, apart from, perhaps, its well-maintained and presented exterior, but................

Having booked on-line, entering and being met was the first contact with the establishment. It was good! Manetta greeted us and showed us to our room, which was spacious, well furnished and quiet, being at the back of the house. We were given advice about where to eat in the town and were left to settle-in. The room had all we could ask for - a king size bed, a sofa, TV and thoughtful touches, like a couple of wine glasses. The en-suite shower-room was very evidently nearly newly refurbished and was of the highest standard. Likewise, the Laura Ashley furnishings were top notch and sumptuous.

Having dined out on fish & chips (What else? It was Whitby!) a peaceful night ensued and waking refreshed, we then encountered the breakfast room, Peter and the breakfast.

The room is furnished in a modern and elegant style with a superb selection of breakfast starters available to choose from. This was followed by the "full English", cooked to order and to suit whatever your choice was. Peter was attentive and engaged all in chat and answered any questions fired at him.

All-in-all the stay was top quality. The room and the whole house is presented and maintained to a high standard. The breakfast room was impeccable - who would choose to let the public use glass-topped tables - but they were spotless! Peter and Manetta's attention to their guests and to detail made this the top stop on out four day tour of the North-East. Well done - we'll be back, I hope!

Room Tip: Room G2 is at the the back of the house, so is away from any possible street noise. However, as the...

Just got back from a weekend away at this b&b. Rooms are furnished to a high standard, superb en suite. The owners are really welcoming and friendly nothing is too much trouble. Everything you could wish for at breakfast. The whole house as a lovely atmosphere. If we ever go back to Whitby this will be our first choice. Truly spoilt.

Just had another 3 nights in the Sandpiper, I would not stop anywhere else in Whitby, fantastic rooms and superb friendly hosts. Breakfast top quality and service second to none.

Will be back later in the year
