“Disappointing”

Standard of cleanliness was poor. The cutlery was missing knives .Only three dishes .poor quality tea spoons..1 tea towel .Overall very disappointing . With a little care, attention and a small investment these problems could be rectified. The smell from the sewerage plant next door was awful at times.

“Lovely and quiet”

Lovely quiet location with some beautiful walks and very close to Sainsburys. Cottage had everything we needed and if you had young children the play area is superb. Owners very helpful and friendly. Games room has a pool table so make sure you have some 50ps. There is a washer dryer so it doesn't matter if it rains. Bit too long a walk into Whitby centre-about 45 mins, but several buses go from Sainsburys. .

“Quiet location, everything to hand, stunning views, lovely pet friendly cottage with everything provided”

Having read reviews before going I was slightly put off by some I read. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted with the cottage and surroundings. The owners who live in the main building saw us arrive and came over to welcome us and show us around. They are very friendly, happy to help if needed, leaving you to enjoy your stay. The cottage is as described, a little smaller than I was expecting but certainly comfortable, fully equipt with all kitchen essentials and includes everything, even the beds are made up and plenty of towels. The cottage is a little tired but the positives deffinately out way the negatives. Yes its next to Whitby water works but whilst we were there I can honestly say that there was no smell on arrival or for the first two days and only smelt a couple of times. I have a very sensitive nose so was very relieved! We will deffinately go back if in the area again

“Lovely accommodation and location for holidaying in Whitby and the North York moors.”

lovely quiet location on the outskirts of Whitby. Furnishings very comfortable especially the beds. The conversertions from farm buildings have been tastefully done. Will certainly book again.

“Cosy, friendly but smaller than pictures suggest”

The owners are lovely and friendly and we could not fault them at all. The whole site was very nice, but the accommodation was smaller than the pictures suggested. I traveled with my elderly parents and my child and we could just seat all four of us in the living area, 4 adults would not have been comfortable!. The picture of the kitchen area is also misleading as the table and chairs are so close to the cooker , you had to move them to use it. Once moved away from the cooker it blocked the walk way from the kitchen to the living area. Bedrooms were adequate, although again if 4 adults - say 2 couples were staying- there is only one wardrobe in the double bedroom so would have to share storage space. The games room is not part of the accommodation, which is not stated in the right up - only states SHARED garden- it is totally separate room for all cottages to share, in the middle of the court yard and again is very small. The picture of The Old Stable also includes another cottage -it is 2 in one block , which again misleads you to thinking the place is bigger. The accommodation was cosy and adequate for a short stay, although it was a bit tired and dated.
There was also no mention of the waste water site right next to it , which wasn't a pleasant smell to live next to.
