“Excellent location, lovely and cosy.”
Reviewed 2 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed here as a family of 4 adults for one night and we can't compliment this lovely place enough.

It was clean, cosy and the surroundings are beautiful.

The rate was very reasonable and it was great that one night stays are available.

It's in a great location too.

We will be back again.

Thank you!

“A fantastic location and great for children”
Reviewed 1 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

A quite relaxing location close to Whitby. We had a fantastic few days break and our five year old loved the playground and games room. The owners were helpful and friendly and the eggs they sell are delicious! The accommodation had everything we required.

“Lovely cottage and dog friendly”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The cottage is a fantastic place to stay especially with having our young Springer spanielToby with us. Stopped first at Sandsend and let Toby experience the beach for the first time then went to the Whitby. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, they provided fresh eggs for the next mornings breakfast and were really helpful with directions to get to Whitby. Just walk to the end of the fields at the back of the accommodation and get on the cinder track the old railway and turn left or right to either robins hood bay or whitby... We really enjoyed our walk very picturesque lots of other dog walkers and cyclists etc enjoying the route. Would definitely stay again.

We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and Toby enjoyed his first trip to the beach. Lovely to hear he wasn't fazed by the sea at all and was straight in. We hope to see you again in the future.

“cosy but room for improvement”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Good location away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. We missed the bit about dogs welcome when we booked. As we do not have a dog the smell in the cottage resulted in a quick purchase of a plug in air freshner. The double bed was extremely uncomfortable and was a big minus point. We hoped to use the internet to research places to visit and prices but there was no internet access until the day before we left. There was connection to the router but after alot of time wasting it was clear there was no internet access and even a visit to the main house failed to fix it.Also the details failed to mention the sewerage treatment plant adjacent to the farm which was out of sight but not pleasant at certain times.I thought at first it was a typical farm smell until i realised it was no longer a working farm.We were woken up most days by the seagulls which have been rescued by the farm and 3 days out of the 7 my car was targeted by them.A bit annoying as it never got hit when parked down in the town and as bird droppings damage car paintwork had to be washed off each time. The cottage was well equipped and in good order but a dishwasher would have been a bonus. This an ideal spot for dog owners with plenty of walks available but is below what we expected. It lacks the personal touch, keys just left in the door with no contact from the owner. The last three cottages we have rented all had a simple welcome pack with milk and samples of local produce but not at doves haven.A finishing touch like this speaks volumes.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are sorry you could not access the internet for the majority of your stay. Wi-fi is something we are pleased to offer freely to guests and in this case, the router was having problems. We are pleased the problem has been rectified and the cottages are back on line. We are glad you had everything you could need in your cottage. Subject to availability, we will often leave a box of complimentary eggs from our own flock of hens. We are always happy to answer any queries whilst guests are staying with us and welcome any suggestions they may have.

“Lovely little place to stay”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Our first stay in Whitby and we stayed at Dove's Haven, one of six cottages on this site. The cottage itself was lovely, nicely furnished and well kitted-out with everything you could need including towels, iron, washing-up liquid, pretty much everything. For a 'small cottage' the downstairs area is very spacious. The bedrooms and bathrooms are under the roof so there is limited headspace, especially when taking a shower, but you get used to it! There is a nice children's play area on site, which our two year-old loved, WiFi in our cottage, and we had lovely fresh eggs from the owners' rescued hens.
Transport is needed as it's a long walk into Whitby itself but worth it for the peace and tranquility of the site. Sainsburys is across the road, handy if you need anything and there is a lovely country walk to Robin Hood's Bay from the cottages.
Our boiler stopped working halfway through our week's stay, and the lovely owner sent her son and daughter straight away to sort it out for us. They are all really nice people.
Would definitely recommend and will likely stay again, we had a lovely holiday, thank you :)

Just returned from a lovely weekend in doves haven
Everything in the cottage anyone would need for their stay was there
Friendly staff , who know all about the area
Just across the field is the cinder track way , a disused railway track which took us on a fantastic walk to robin hoods bay
Would recommend and return again
Many thanks

“A peaceful haven from the rat race.”
Reviewed 11 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The owners were very friendly and welcoming on arrival and remained that way during out stay. The cottage is very comfortable and furnished to a high specification. The location is ideal been just outside Whitby giving it a peaceful feel with the town only two minutes drive away. Will certainly be revisiting in the future.
