We were booked for 2 nights in mid September but then decided to extend our stay by one more night. We had an attic room which was very spacious and comfortable and also very clean. The breakfast was a help yourself to cereals and fruit and yoghurt and then a cooked breakfast which was either a full English breakfast or less. It was about a 10 minute walk from the town but we ultimately found a shorter walk through some woods called the Cinder Track can be followed for miles in the other direction. We fell in love with Whitby and would like to return one day and would definitely stay at Launceston Villa.

On arrival we were greeted by Donna, after introductions she took us up to our rooms. We had booked two doubles for a two night stay. Donna showed us to the rooms which were at the front of the building on the first floor. We were told that one room was smaller than the other with a slighter larger bathroom, whilst the other was slightly bigger with the smaller bathroom. To be honest it didn’t matter to us either way, the rooms are beautifully decorated in similar tones. The bathrooms are on the small side but functional, toiletries are replenished daily. A double bed accompanied by bedside tables, a chest of drawers and small wardrobe with plenty of hangars and more drawers. Mirrors and pictures adorn the walls, a flat screen TV with built in DVD player tea/coffee making facilities and, not often seen in hotels, biscuits, along with 2 dessert size plates, bottle opener and bottle stopper.

The dining room again is well presented and very clean and tidy. People have commented before on the breakfast, there is cereal, yoghurt and juice, to help your self to, Jamie then takes your order for either a full English Breakfast cooked to order or alternatively something less, i.e. poached eggs on toast etc, followed up with pots of tea/coffee and toast.

Launceston Villa is located on the main road into Whitby next to the college, they have their own parking bays behind the house, which for Whitby is a godsend otherwise you are parked in the street or a main car park.

A generous 8 – 10 minute walk downhill will get you to the centre, which means it’s a walk uphill which will take a bit longer on the way back, alternatively a taxi for less than £5.00 each way, either by ringing one of the many firms advertised in the hallway notice board, or from the centre of town.

Jamie and Donna full marks on your wonderful B & B.

This B&B is a short 8 - 10 minute down hill walk to Whitby centre and a slightly longer up hill walk on the return journey. We had an attic room which was spacious, with an excellent view, but the bathroom was tiny. No problem for a night or two but it would get a bit claustrophobic over a longer stay. Presumably other rooms had larger bathrooms - it might pay to enquire when booking. However any small minuses were well and truly compensated by two very large pluses. First, the spotless presentation. Launceston Villa could host an international "Spot-the-speck-of-dust" competition; it was immaculate inside and out. Second, the breakfasts were beautifully cooked and presented. Right up with best we've had in our eight trips to the U.K.

Have just got back from a fab weekend staying at the Launceston Villa and would recommend this b&b to anyone wanting to stay in Whitby. Firstly the room we had was spotlessly clean, very well equipt and spacious. We had free wifi in the room too. We had a short walk into town down hill and would get a cab back up for about £6, so well worth it. Jamie and Donna were very friendly and could not do enough for us. Breakfast, always a highlight of my weekends away, was perfect! Being vegetarian it was lovely to have the option of a vegetarian sausage for a change! Overall I can say than anytime I'm Whitby way in the future the Launceston Villa will be my first port of call.

I stayed here for 3 nights during the Whitby Folk festival and loved it. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with lots of little extras such as a corkscrew and lovely toiletries etc. The fan in the room was definitely a bonus as it was so warm that week!
There was a huge collection of dvds available and lots of local info. The breakfasts was wonderful and I'd definitely recommend to others. Now if you could just level out that hill it would be perfect!!

This little guest house was a treat, spotlessly clean, with attention to detail. The breakfasts were lovely, well cooked and good produce. It is quite a way from Whitby centre and all up hill. We were in an attic room at the front which was hot and you could hear road traffic but still slept well. we would recommend this B & B.

Spent three nights here in August.
The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, however left you alone to do your own thing.
This B & B was absolutely spotless and the rooms were first class with everything you could wish for, (glasses, corkscrew, plenty of tea, coffee etc)
The breakfasts were superb and set you up nicely for a days wandering.
We had a room at the front of the house which was a wee bit noisy due to the busy road, but it wasn't a big issue.
The house is ideally situated about 10 mins pleasant walk from the town center, and has plenty of private parking.
It has been a while since I had stayed in a B & B but this made it an extremely pleasurable experience.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the rear which should be quieter
