I have just returned from a stay at the Crows Nest. The accommodation was ideal for me, my partner and our dog. The apartment had everything we required, and was in a great location, close to Whitby and perfect for nearby dog walks. Thank you for our stay.

“Great value for money.”
Reviewed 25 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Convenient for Robon Hoods Bay and Whitby, lots of space for the money, on,y negative comment would be that it lacks attention to its finish and a bit dusty.

“Lovely place - ideal for a couple or small family”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Crows Nest. The location was just right being in a peaceful setting but not too far from Town. We caught the X93 bus into Whitby which stops on the main road. We also walked the Cinder track which runs along the back of the cottages and goes all the way to Whitby, we brought our dog along and he enjoyed the walks. The apartment itself was very welcoming and had everything you need but would just like to point out the bed, which wasn't very comfortable and the sofa/bed in the living room could do with updating. The bedding was also of low quality.
We found the apartment very relaxing, being away from main roads and noise but my concerns were raised when I noticed they were converting the building underneath to what looked like a shower block for the campsite on the field it overlooked. I can see this affecting the privacy of the Crows Nest in the future and probably the water pressure too as we noticed this drop sometimes in the shower. I would also recommend a mixer shower as we had 2 children and had to watch them in the shower to make sure they didn't burn themselves - the right temperature was hard to maintain. My other concern was the outdoor picnic area for the Crows Nest, which we didn't use because it was right next to the shower block and overlooked by the campsite so didn't feel private enough. The sockets in the bedroom were in the wrong place to use easily - I luckily took my own mirror that I could move nearer to the sockets to dry my hair etc.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again but would hope that the owners pick up on the negatives and make changes.

“A really good place to stay”

We enjoyed our holiday, everything was within easy access and the accommodation was good.
We had everything in the accommodation that we needed apart from a coffee pot.

“OK for the money”
Reviewed 16 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This is a lovely space to stay in but with a little more attention to detail it could be superb.
It is in a lovely green location but still close to Whitby. Great for our dog.
The main farmhouse is a beautiful Georgian building.

“Great location, clean and quite”
Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We only stayed for one night, but we would definitely come again.
The owners where very nice, calling us on the way to inform us that the room is ready before official check-in time and dropping by to say hi when we arrived.
The place itself is clean and inviting. We did not need most of the facilities, but it seemed well equipped for a longer self catering stay.
My only suggestion - it's hard to bring all the house with you when coming for self catering vacation. It would be nice to have the very essential supplied by the owner- not much more than soap in the bathroom and a toilet roll...

“Peaceful 'out of town' accommodation suitable for two”

Lovely impact upon arrival, location and appearance. We were aware of the out of town location so were happy to use Park & Ride into Whitby. The apartment was light, bright, fairly clean, tidy and nicely presented, though cleaning could benefit from a bit more attention. There were no cleaning products other than fariy liquid and a brush/dustpan. We were unable to use the bed without placing another duvet under the sheet to cushion ourselves from the painful springs of the mattress. No mattress cover was provided either. The bedroom was bright and roomy, but the position of the bed under the eaves made getting out difficult one side so we had to move it away. The mirror in the bedroom was on the wall in the passageway in front of the bathroom door, with no sockets nearby for hair styling (important to a lady!). With the door to the bathroom being 'ensuite' this would be difficult if additional guests stayed in the lounge so I would consider the rental not suitable for more than two. Being under 5' tall I was unable to use the shower without asking my husband to take it down from the high unadjustable fitting and it ran cold during use one time. The heating was otherwise efficient and the apartment cosily warm. The peace was lovely apart from the cockerel which woke us at dawn and crowed on all morning! We were told we could park in front of the property, in front of the garages underneath it, but the owner was sanding and renovating a boat just beside us, using the garages beneath for his tools so we didn't want our car to be covered in dust so parked to the side. On the whole, a nice apartment but the few things mentioned let it down for us. These few things could easily be put right with a bit of attention to the detail. We wouldn't recommend the property on the basis of the uncomfortable bed which is fundamental for a few good nights away.
