This was our first visit to The Quayside and what a pleasure it was from the minute we set foot in the door to leaving. Extremely pleasant and helpful waiting staff (we overheard one young lady giving tourist information to some first time visitors!), huge portions of freshly cooked fresh fish and chips (not suitable for vegetarians as they use traditional beef dripping, but they do gluten free batter). The only downside to our visit was the screaming children, but that is something that is beyond the restaurant's control. We met up with family later in the afternoon and they wanted a recommendation for food, so we went back with them to The Quayside. It was an altogether more enjoyable experience as the children had all gone by then! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and we would all recommend The Quayside to anyone.

we went into quayside because of the awards that were shown outside. Ive worked in many fish and chip restaurants and i love a good fish and chips. i thought it was very high priced but thought might as well try it. me and my boyfriend have haddock and chips mine was very sweet and sickly and ended up leaving half of it my boyfriend found big bones in his so that also put me off eating it. when we mentioned it to a waitress she dint do anything not even apolagise. where i have work in past jobs we would have given them there money back and apolagised at least i know they cant be certain there will be bones but we found loads. when we finished our meal we were sat for ages waiting for a waitress to clear our table then when she did she spent ages getting our bill. we were given the smallest amount of milk for a tea and coffee and had to ask for more. the younger waitress was very polite and happy unlike the older waitress. we wont be going back.

We were tempted inside the quayside by a sign outside that said best fish and chips in whitby. We were bitterly disappointed. The fish was overcooked and the chips were greasy. The establishment displayed a host of awards for fish and chips that impressed us when we first entered. However, many other fish and chips shops had the same awards so be aware. This was the was first and chips we have ever had.

We drove to whitby on a cold wet and very windy feb morning with view to actually eat at the Magpie, we did go there but didn't get treated very well so walked out. I'm so glad we did as the quayside is excellent, from the moment we walked in through the door until we left the staff we friendly and attentive. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the food is superb at a good price. The portion sizes are huge and if you want the fixed menu but you want a slight change they are more than happy to oblige. Would we visit again yes but in the summer

I went to quayside last sunday with my wife, 2 year old son and 4 month daughter and what a pleasure it was. The staff were very helpfull and provided a newborn highchair for our daughter and a highchair for my son. The food was excellent! The haddock was huge, thick and cooked to perfection! The chips were great and the homemade tartare sauce was lovely. My son ate every last scrap of his! In all the Quayside is a great place to eat. We have eaten at the Magpie and would not bother again and the same goes for many of the other chip shops too.
Highly recommended!
