“Customer or Employee?!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2011

I was shocked presumably by owner or manager of the Wits End Cafe Espresso Bar. The attitude which has been shown by the lady was unsociable and disgusting. I was thinking if I am lady’s employee or her customer! I have never experienced rough behaviour such that anywhere around the world, but I did at the Wits End Cafe Espresso Bar.

“Absolutely Awful and Unwelcoming - AVOID!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2011

Nothing to say about the food or drink as the group of walkers I was with were asked to leave before ordering. The management's opinion was that we were too big a goup (20 people) to serve in an almost empty cafe. Perhaps if we were in smaller groups of 5 this would have made a difference? There were also ridiculous accusations from management of my group walking into the establishment without first asking. Is this not what a cafe is for? Overall it was inhospitable with rude management behaving inappropriate, unwelcoming and treating customers with disregard. A very risky way to run a business especially in the current economic climate. Very highly overpriced as well with a cream tea costing £7! Avoid if it all possible.

“Drop the prices now please!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2011

A stop at this cafe has been a regular feature of our annual holiday after an always enjoyable walk along the beach from Whitby. Not this time however purely due to high prices (e.g. 6.80 for a large cafetiere) which led us to walk out. Prices have often been on the high side here but compensated by a nice location, good staff and above average quality of food and drink. Could I wish the business all the best with this pricing policy in summer 2011 credit crunch Britain.

“Ridiculous prices!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2011

Barely any change from £6.00 for two espressos!!!(one single one double)
This is not a comment on food as we didnt eat here due to prices being higher than central London restaurants for a very basic looking menu.
It may be a lovely location and a quaint building but this was a ridiculous markup.

“Great cake!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2011

Lovely walk from Whitby to Sandsend, at low tide we were able to walk back along the beach. The cafe has plenty of parking if you would rather drive or the weather is bad. The weather was great and we sat in the courtyard, a truly tranquil and beautiful haven of a garden. We enjoyed lovely coffee and homemade cakes, just like a cake should be. There is an extensive menu of drinks snacks and cakes, well worth a visit.
