Last year we stayed at Whitby Lighthouse, and, while it was delightful, this trip we wanted to stay in town and be able to walk to restaurants. This luxury condo is located in the Metropole on the West Cliff - perfect location! Great views! There is no on-site parking but scratch cards are provided for free parking on Argyle Road, and we had no problem any day parking right in front of the Metropole where we could look out and see our car. The owner provides a great welcome hamper filled with goodies and necessities. Since we in the UK for a month, we don't like to eat out every night. The kitchen here has everything you need for eating in: stove top, oven, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, kettle, etc. After figuring out how to use the hob (instructions in the welcome guide), everything worked great. And we used the washer dryer in the apartment as well. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is very modern and the shower is plenty big enough, even for me - 6'6". There was ample hot water and excellent water pressure. We watched TV a few times (mainly to watch the Chase and Four in a Bed), but we didn't really take advantage of the thoughtfully-provided free Amazon TV (which we use often back at home). It's an easy enough walk to the great restaurants on Skinner Street (we loved Mademoiselle's and Ditto). We walked all the way down to the harbor and back on two separate occasions. (Trenchers and the Magpie Cafe have the BEST fish and chips.) And we attended a cinema presentation one night at the close-by Whitby Pavilion. We were on the third floor but the elevator, while old and a bit creaky, was totally reliable. Save for the first night when some kids were running around in the apartment above (not a big deal as they went to bed early), it was blissfully quiet. Also, it's easy to drive to and from the Metropole without having to go through the crowded downtown. We greatly enjoyed our stay (which is not over for another couple of days).
Me, my husband and Daughter stayed for three nights. Amazing apartment. Never had a welcome pack quite like this. It was great not to have to go shopping for essentials and treats. Fantastic views. The extra special touches, hairdryers, bath robes, slippers, toiletries etc it was just like staying in a 5* hotel. We will definitely stay again and can't recommend it highly enoug. Thank you Sean & Holga
Just got back from a wonderful Week in Whitby and it was made extra special by staying in this amazing boutique apartment, from the moment we stepped into the. Lovely apartment, I felt relaxed, I have stayed in some places before and the first thing I feel I have to do is bleach and wash surfaces down, I didn't feel the need to do anything in this apartment, it was absolutely spotless, couldn't fault a thing, the welcome hamper was more than generous, all the essential s you need and all the extra treats made the hamper extra special and very much appreciated. The views were beautiful. If we had a chance to visit Whitby again in the future, we would if possible definitely stay in this apartment again.
The photos are very representative of the property. It is comfortable.clean and tasteful if you think you might need something then its there ,even a pair of binoculars there is a really good view over to the Abbey The welcome pack is good every thing you need to start you of and some little treats
Stayed October 2016. Immaculate property with such accommodating owners. Communication excellent. Close proximity to Whitby Centre. Plenty of parking. We hope to return.
