Popped in for lunch on a day trip to lovely York. I had vegetable soup but only had a couple of spoonfuls. It was tasteless and half blended to a colourless mush. Hubby had steak pie and said the pastry had the consistency of sponge cake! The steak in the pie tasted like it had been nuked with dried up gravy. The chips and veg were ok. The whole atmosphere in the pub was drab and lifeless. Staff were ok.

Lunch time on a Saturday in York is very busy! We tried several pubs but they were all full until we stumbled across this one.
Quirky atmosphere indeed with the Roman Bath museum underneath the pub & Roman themed painting & artefacts around the bar.
It's quite small inside & the tables are quite close together. Fine for us 2 but might not suit everybody.
We had a pint of real ale & a New York Burger each & it was perfectly acceptable & tasty enough.
Staff seemed friendly & the service was quick.
I'd certainly go back again.

5 of us went to the roman bath inn for lunch, one of the waitresses , said there is a 20 minute wait, so one in the group said thats ok we will have a drink and wait, as soon as this so called waitress clocked me and my wheelchair, she told us. not asked. told us to leave as i was in the way, we have been going to this pub for lunch for years when we visit york with no bother, ok the pub was busy with it been the 1st dec, but thats no excuse for that waitresses ignorant, hostile way towards me, i have a right to eat to , if she had explained that wont have been a problem , ,, i cried all of the sunday she made me feel worthless , NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BE GOING THERE

Good no frills pub grub at reasonable prices. We went on a Monday and there was a £5 meal offer. Plenty to choose from the menu. The waitress gave us an extra side of onion rings which was a nice gesture. The drinks are well priced as well.

There is an ancient Roman bath downstairs if you wish to pay an entrance fee of about £3. It can get busy during peak times, but well worth it.
