Wow.......that sort of sums up our weekend. We were here for the Tour De France too which we didn't know when we booked. We were on top floor room 9 which was simply perfect, yes there were lots of stairs but the staff we brilliant. Breakfast was simply the best and the home made black pudding.........:-)))) bar is so relaxed and the maze of snugs is lovely. We loved the garden and BBQ which was booming even at lunch, got to be one of the finest and cosiest hotels in york within the walls, please please book, we have booked again and only been home 2 hours !!

Room Tip: No pool or gym, but also not a problem, still one of the best hotels and I have been to most over pa...

My wife and I visit York twice a year at least and usually stay at The Guy Fawkes Inn which is owned by the same people who own the Lamb and Lion Inn so when we couldn't get in the Guy Fawkes and had to choose the Lamb as our second choice we were a little apprehensive however we are now completely converted to this place due mainly to the superb attitude of the staff, from the moment we walked in we were dealt with professionally and in a very friendly welcoming manner. we stayed in room 4 which was very pleasant and very clean and perfect for a weekend stay. if you enjoy real ale the choice at the Lamb is very good and the bar area is also very good with a nice buzz about it there are also cosy snugs to sit in if thats what you want, there is also a lovely beer garden at the back.
The food we had was of a high quality and the breakfasts were terrific so all in all our second choice will in future be our first choice.

We have just returned from a trip to York, and have to say the hotel was great. As i had read prior reports about noise on the streets i had asked for a room at the back which was quiet. The room was really nicely decorated and had a good king size bed. It was spotlessly clean each day and the bathroom had a fantastic power shower. All the staff were really friendly and helpfull at all times. And the breakfast each morning was great. i would highly recomend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in York anytime soon.

I went to York for a vacation. My family and I saw The Lamb and the Lion from the wall. We dined in the lovely back garden and we all enjoyed the selection and of course for the amazing food from appetizers to BBQ. Honestly the best hamburger I have ever had. Staff were friendly.

We have been regular visitors to York for around fifteen years, but our first stay in the Lamb and Lion Inn, and will definitely be staying again. Stayed for one night, 20th June bed and breakfast and couldn't recommend this place enough, will definitely return. A hidden treasure. Stayed in room '5', and would ask if this room was available for our next trip. Lovely!!!

Stayed for two nights 1st June for wedding anniversary and day at races. Lovely quaint hotel in a perfect location. Rooms may be small but adequate and very pretty. We only ate breakfast at the hotel which was very nice and plentiful. My only gripe was the noise of late night revellers passing by but this is not the hotels fault. All in all an enjoyable stay. Must compliment the staff who were very pleasant and helpful .

Room Tip: rooms at front may get noise from passers by.

Well situated close to the centre of York and only a couple of minutes walk to the Abbey. Pleasant rooms although a bit on the small side which is quite acceptable considering the age of the building. All in all a good base for visitors to the City. A good brealfast with plenty of choice.

Room Tip: Choose a room towards the rear of the building ours at the front was a little noisy.
