What a great place to stay, staff really really went the extra mile, great rooms-everything was spot on,wife used pool/spa everymorning-loved it!.Nothing to much trouble for the staff-and its so handy for the centre of York which is as lovely as ever.Really do not have any complaints about the hotel- the best place we have stayed, will be back for another stay next year-sister in law and husband came with us as it was her birthday treat-they reflect my and wifes view,if any of the managers read this please pass our thanks to all of the staff at the Grand -it was a great stay!!
We did not use everything the hotel had to offer as we wanted to explore York in the 3 days we were there but next time we will use grill room etc -sure it will be as described!.Thank you Ceder Court a great stay!(Even the work outside the hotel did not spoil our stay -it happens!)

Room Tip: They are all good(my own expierence)!

Just stayed here for one night recently. I arrived at 1pm after a long flight from Australia and a train trip from London. The check in staff were lovely and found me a room which was ready for occupation even though I was early for check in. The room was lovely and spacious with a nice sitting area, desk and a huge king bed. I used the indoor pool in the spa which is long enough to swim lengths in. Also went for a lovely run from the hotel along the river - stunning countryside. Breakfast was a buffet with the option to order a cooked meal. I stuck to the buffet as there was plenty of variety and the quality of the food was good. My only complaint was that the espresso coffee tasted bitter.

This is possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is set in an historic building with lots of charm, yet the rooms are spacious and finished to a very high standard. The pool and spa are a definite highlight, we really didn't want to leave!

The location is also great but the one drawback is that there is no parking on-site, but it's a compromise well worth accepting.

Although we do not have car parking onsite itself, we do valet park guests vehicles as part of our service. The Hotel is conveniently located a stones throw away from the station, walking distance to the city centre and a short bus / taxi ride to the race course. Perhaps on your next visit to York, a train could be an alternative mode of transport for you to utilise.

We decided to go for the 'Time for Two' spa break. It was fantastic value for money and a wonderful, relaxing experience. The hotel accommodation is lovely and the staff are both friendly and efficient. Quite simply, a great hotel in a great location

Booked a one night stay for my husbands birthday and our anniversary. It was a little expensive but worth every penny. Staff were exceptional, food outstanding, all in all a totally brilliant stay. Free upgrade and a glass of complimentary champagne! Spa was lovely and again very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Having just spent 3 nights here, the hotel is absolutely superb. Excellent rooms, lovely spa and treatments and the staff could not be faulted. Breakfast is scrummy!

The standard rooms are spacious, lovely bathrooms and very comfy beds. Everywhere within York is within walking distance.

My only gripes are £20 parking per night and drinks -£10 for a Gin and Tonic (this isn't London)! Additionally building site opposite disturbed our lie-ins but not fault of hotel. Would definitely return.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write such a fantastic review following your recent stay with us,
I’m delighted you enjoyed the experience throughout, in particular your breakfast, bedroom and time spent in our Spa.

In response to your comments:
Car parking:
Valet parking of guest vehicles from our concierge is part of our service and does incorporate the 3rd party charges passed onto us from the car park.
The Hotel is conveniently located a stones throw away from the station, walking distance to the city centre and a short bus / taxi ride to the race course. Perhaps on your next visit to York, a train could be an alternative mode of transport for you to utilise as car parking charges in any city centre are usually high. In London for example, the going rate is £40-£50 per night when staying at a 5 star hotel.
To inform guests prior to arrival this charge is indeed mentioned on booking confirmation, our own website and all 3rd party booking web sites.

Bar Prices – The cost of a standard Gin and tonic is £6.15. I presume you would have had a double measure which is £10.05. The pricing of our food and beverage, we feel is competitive in light of the surrounding area and calibre of Hotel that we are.

Building works – I’m sorry if the work adjacent to one side of the building proved an annoyance. As you have stated, this is unfortunately behind the hotel’s control, however the project is at a very advanced stage and nearing completion.

On behalf of myself and the rest of the team here, we look forward to welcoming you back to us in the future.

Best Wishes

Had an amazing night at this hotel. Everything about the place was fantastic. The hotel was within decent walking distance of majority of places in York. The place it self was beautiful, Our room was spacious, comfortable and lovely. The food was simply gorgeous and lots of it too. The staff could not do enough for you and were the most courteous we have ever come across.
If you want to go and see York this place is very highly recommended and you won't be disappointed.
Thank you to you all at the hotel for making our stay simply fantastic and the weekend a magic one for us
