“Luxurious and central”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2012

An imposing building that used to be the Railway office.
Absolutely lovely hotel, you get greeted by a doorman and keen staff.
My room was very big, the bathroom had fabulously warmed floors and Molton Brown toiletries.
It is a shame that I did not have the time to check out the spa.
The location is very good for the toen centre.
Would return without hesitation.

We recently stayed at the Cedar Court Grand for our anniversary and we had a wonderful time. The service is excellent, from front of house to the concierge. The room was really spacious and the bed was so comfortable. We had Afternoon Tea when we arrived and would recommend it. The location of the hotel is perfect for a stay in York and I'm sure we'll be back again next year.

You get what you pay for with this hotel. Attention to detail in every way. Genuine, polite, and brilliant service from everyone I encountered. Spotless, elegant rooms, The spa was of the same standard with temperatures of pool etc all maintained to a high standard. Very central for York sightseeing. Hotels so often do not deliver on some level BUT this is a real gem and would recommend it to anyone who wants to give their loved one a treat or just to enjoy a luxury hotel of the highest standards.

We stayed for 1 night in December and wished we could have stayed longer. The property was lovely, service was excellent and location was great.

Service received from the front desk to the concierge to the porters was sincere and they always had a smile on their faces. Everything we asked for, including portable heaters was speedily attended to.

The rooms were lovely and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The rooms felt clean.

Location is good and is a comfortable walking distance to all major sights. Complimentary parking.

A true pleasure to stay here. Would definitely recommend.

A conversion of a fairly grand old building, with characterful staircase, landings and ceilings, corridors and rooms.
The concierge service, footmen and reception all located in the reception area are all eager to help you out if you look like you need it.

We booked an executive room which had an outer door, toilet and then inner door helping to restrict corridor noise. The room itself had a king size bed, settees and table, a desk and a bathroom with bath, sink and walk in shower room/wet room.

All the rooms are unique.

Little touches like evening turn down service, free bottled water, complimentary fresh milk on demand for your tea, daily replacement of towels (without a please resuse your towels sign in sight), egyptian cotton sheets and bathrobes add to the feel of luxury.

5*? yes.

This was our 3 rd stay at this incredible hotel ! I have recommended it to so many others as it never fails to deliver . We were greeted on arrival on Sunday by the very professional and friendly front of house staff. They explained that due to the fact that they had been busy the previous evening there would be a 15 minute delay getting into our room , however we would be offered a complimentary drink to endure the delay . Whilst chatting to the lady she learnt that this was our third visit plus it was a special occasion , and within minutes she had upgraded us to a junior suite . Result !
The room as always was beautifully appointed with a cosy lounge , dressing area , huge bedroom , and fantastic double bathroom . Wow what a way to spend a miserable Sunday evening . Had drinks and nibbles at the bar , then room service dinner which was effortless , no dressing for dinner after a hard week at work . Poor guy who delivered our drinks dropped a full ice bucket outside our room by accident ,but was extremely apologetic . We are already planning our nextt trip and several freinds have booked . This hotel is such great value for money when you see what you get in comparison to the other chains , which we also use frequently .

Room Tip: Room 401 and 403 fabulous

We loved our stay. Here on business but with a bit of pleasure thrown in.

Staff are fantastic, friendly and dead helpful. Rooms are spacious, the most comfortable beds and really easy to while away some time in.

Superb grill restaurant, this is a stand out York restaurant, friendly, attentive service. The maitre'de and the cheese trolley guy epitomised this with knowledgable and friendly advice.

We even had the beautiful spa to ourselves for an hour.

All in all a fabulous 4 night stay, in a character hotel. Loved the bar- delicious cocktails and gins! Great spa, fantastic restaurant. You can't help but love the place.
