I would echo all the previous comments about this excellent hotel. Our room was immaculate, the bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries was enormous and luxurious, and all the staff were exceptional. A real treat, highly recommended. Just one regret - wish we'd had our afternoon tea here (instead of going to Betty's)! Would love to return if we're in the area.

We went for 3 nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, as we had been to York the first time we went away together. We chose this hotel due t it's proximity to the station and the centre of town along with its spa facilities. We have stopped at some very good hotels around the world and this was one of the best, from the hand written note to the friendliness of the staff. Our room was large and well fitted out over looking the wall around the city. We both enjoyed a session in the spa having a full body massage with hot stones, this was the first time I had experienced a spa and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our only criticism of the break is the time taken to do some things by the staff, with the Saturday breakfast my wife asked for a spoon, the waiter went to fetch one and was then distracted on his return. We watched him walk round the restaurant at least 3 times carrying the spoon, each evening we went to the terrace for both pre and post dinner drinks, the service could best be described as slow, and it got worse through the stay, culminating on the Sunday when we had been waiting on the terrace for 15 minutes, my wife ended up going to the bar only to be told that they would come and take our order, 5 minutes later they came out, we then received our drinks after 30 minutes, and then one was wrong so I had to take it and change it, the offer to have it bought out was politely declined, and I waited. Eventually we had drinks after 35 minutes, a staff member came over and apologised stating the computer was not working, not sure what was wrong with a paper and pen. Apart from these incidents our break was superb, and we would stay there again, just wouldn't want a thirst on.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the front of the hotel

Lovely hotel just a stone's throw away from the York train station and easy walking distance to the center of town.

The staff was incredibly helpful, and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. Our room was spacious and included nice amenities, such as tea and coffee service and bath robes. The bar and restaurant downstairs were lovely and relaxing. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

We arrived at the Cedar Court for our 3rd short break on Saturday & were met by a very attentive valet who made provisions to park our car . After a prompt check-in we were advised that our Suite was ready early - which was a pleasant surprise & were advised by receptionist that we should like the room as it was a favourite of hers .

Suite 420 was stunning - split level / double shower & overly spacious with massive windows & overly high ceilings . We were even greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne .

Despite this being our 3rd visit this year we had not eating an evening meal in the Hotel previously , so we booked into the grill to dine at 8pm . The food quality was superb & you certainly get what you pay for . I could not recommend this experience highly enough .

The bed / room ensured a wonderful nights sleep & we were woken with pre-arranged Breakfast in bed .

All in all - a wonderful experience , staff could not have done more for us if they had tried & a hotel that really does serve up 5 start quality - feel somewhat spoiled returning to normality this morning . I will certainly be returning in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a Suite because the little extra is certainly worth it

The hotel stands within the historical city walls and is very near the places of interest, about a 5-10 minute walk. The hotel is decorated to a high standard but unfortunately our window over looked the delivery area which also contained the rubbish bins so was quite noisy when the bottles were tipped out. The food was excellent. There is no onsite parking so our car was valet parked in a nearby carpark that is at an extra cost. What I would like to praise were the staff, they were wonderful, helpful, very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the historical walls instead of the delivery yard.

Wonderful stay with service which was second to none. Staff were friendly and took real pride in the hotel. We were greeted by enthusiastic and efficient reception staff who checked us in early and our car was whisked off and looked after. Little touches like complementary coffee brought to the room on our arrival, attention to detail on every level, weather forecast and lip balm on pillow placed by turn down service, bellinis on the Ruinard terrace - a wonderful oasis to relax in during a weekend in York during the heatwave. Good spa, great meal in The Grill and spacious bedroom ( we stayed in an Exec double) - what more can I say. Try the continental breakfast in your room - smoothies, bagels, cold meats, porridge with honey and hot coffee that stayed hot - in short we will be back!!! Great location close to railway museum, we had view of York's version of the London Eye and could see the Minster too.

I have not historically had much luck with hotels in the UK, particularly when traveling for business, but this time out I was pleasantly surprised. The Cedar Court is well located, not unreasonably priced for the quality, and the room was really comfortable. Excellent bathroom, super comfortable bed. Breakfast was good (if pricey), being additional to the room rate I had. Walking distance to the center of York. All in all I will stay here again on my next trip to York.
