Premier Inn York City (Blossom St South) Hotel

This was our second stay at Premier Inn on Blossom Street, York, though our previous stay was in the other building. First of all, I actually received a courtesy call a couple of days beforehand asking if I had any special requests etc., and just a general chat to see if I was aware of the hotel location and so on. Now that's what I call service for a relatively budget price hotel. We actually paid just short of £200 for a 3 night stay, including breakfast for two each morning. The room was very big, probably recently refurbished and this was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. So much so that my wife pulled back the sheets to see what the mattress brand was (Hypnos). Staff were delightful and really appeared to care about making your stay as enjoyable as possible. I've said it before but Premier Inns have cracked it as far as I'm concerned and we will always make them our first choice. Breakfast was ample and good quality, if a little on the expensive side. For those on a restricted budget, you could always wander across the road to Wetherspoons for a more reasonably priced brekkie. All in all, a faultless stay at a reasonably priced hotel.

Room Tip: Not sure if the rooms vary but ours was on 3rd floor and of a very high standard

Stayed for 2 nights, very nice room at the rear which was what we had requested as we are used to quiet at night. Very impressed with the customer service, just simple things such as sending an e-mail the day before to explain about the parking and ringing the room after a couple of hours to check everything was ok. It is in a good location, just by the station and a 10 minute walk into the city. However, we were not so impressed with the service in the tabletable restaurant, although the food was good. We had to ask a waiter to take our order, the service was slow, and a true fawlty towers moment occurred when the waiter turned up with the deserts, only to find somebody else had brought them 10 mins earlier and we had eaten them. Bill was wrong too.

Stayed at the premier inn for a weekend break, the room was spotless and clean and very comfortable the bar down stairs was cosy and family friendly.
The premier inn breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and all well cooked. There was a bit of traffic noise at the front of the hotel so when we stay again we will request a room at the back.
Visited mumbai lounge on Friday night and it was beautiful, well cooked food and plenty of choice with excellent service.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back a must if you are a light sleeper due to traffic noise.

We have stayed at this hotel many times and as usual could not find fault, friendly staff, nice room, clean, very good breakfast and a short walk to the city center. Overall a very good choice if you want to visit York for a short stay.

We decided to have a short break in York and booked through the Premier Inn website. We were advised that the Blossom Street South premises contained the restaurant whereas the Blossom Street North didn't ... although they are almost adjacent and share the eating experience. Three days before we left for York we had a phone call from the hotel (from Charlotte) asking if the double room we had booked needed any extra facilities and we decided to go for a low floor or near a lift, for convenience. When we arrived all had been taken care of. The premier Inn standards seem to get better each time we use their hotels and nothing seems too much trouble ... all you have to do is ask.
Room was a good size, warm and comfy and clean.
Restaurant was superb and the TableTable menu was full of surprises ... all good!
A bus stop outside got us into the city in about 5 minutes or, if energetic, it was a short walk from Micklegate Bar.
We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel to relatives, friends and colleagues without a moments hesitation.

This is a relatively new Premier Inn and it follows the standard package of good, clean accommodation. This particular hotel doesn't have a carpark, but it is very close to York's beautiful railway station. If parking is important to you the sister hotel next door (Blossom St North) has a small car park. Both hotels are an easy stroll from all the city centre attractions.

We've stayed in a few Premier Inns now and have always found the accommodation, location and service to be exceptional for the price. Blossom Street South was no exception, our room was clean, relatively comfortable and the location was good too. A bit of a walk to the city centre, but anyone who knows York will know that you pay a premium to stay within the city walls, so you don't find budget options there. If you were travelling by train it would be great as the hotel is just round the corner from York station. We travelled by car and you can park at the NCP round the corner too for a reduced (20% off) rate - which works out as £9 for 24 hours, but you pay by the hour for more or less than this and still get the 20% discount, you just need to get your ticket validated at the PI.

The only negative (hence the 4 out of 5) was that we did not have a very good nights sleep! I think this was purely bad luck really, there was a problem with the guttering right near our room (located at the back, station-side, of the hotel) and, as we sleep with the window open and there had been heavy rain the during the night, the sound of the water dripping from the guttering and hitting the metal roof below made a constant banging noise, which was very disruptive. As I say, I think we were a bit unfortunate with the location of our room and the rainfall, but when I contacted PI about this they stayed true to their Good Night Guarantee and refunded our money in full.

All in all, despite the sleep issues we are still a big fan of Premier Inns and will continue to stay in them!
