We stayed 2 nights for a mini-break in York, with our 3 year old daughter. We were emailed prior to arrival to ask if we had any special requests. I said that a quieter room would be appreciated. Our room was very quiet. Only on the second night did we hear some drunk people going to their rooms, but that's not the hotel's fault.

We were given a room on 3rd floor, and it was huge compared to most hotels we've been to. All was clean, tidy and the choice of pillows etc was appreciated. Often we notice things like beds smelling of smoke - none of that here, it was all great.

Breakfast was huge and well worth the pre-book (our daughter ate for free). The staff from reception to restaurant to cleaners walking past in corridors were all friendly and courteous. The late check-out time of midday is really appreciated and they happily kept our bags. The short walk to the train station was good and the city centre a short walk away (about 20-30 mins with a young child walking).

No complaints whatsoever (the soap dispenser wasn't working properly, that was all!).

Great stay, family friendly and would return, especially for the price.

Room Tip: Just ask if you want something (e.g. quieter) - the staff know best

Only stayed here for 2 nights, but it was so relaxing. The weather was bitter cold, so after a day out walking around it was good to come in to the warmth and hospitality we were shown. Good food and good service in the restaurant.
If all Premier Inns are the same I would not hesitate to stay at one again.

Very good example of this type of accommodation. Nothing flash but clean, super location, good customer service and lovely breakfast. No parking but the hotel do offer a discount for the NCP car park which is no more than five minutes walk away. Will use this hotel again when we go to York.

Stayed Thursday and Friday night at the end of the School Easter holidays. Had a room facing the street at the front and I have to disagree with some reviewers about the traffic noise - it was hardly noticeable and I live in a quiet village. I'd imagine if you needed the window open then it would be much more noticeable. However the air conditioning means you don't need to open the window. That said, the heating controls had a mind of its own! Unless you want 21C, prepare to wrestle with the controls! Best to turn up early for breakfast. We had to queue on Sat morning at 9am for a table, food and coffee. Was fine the day before at 8am.
Parking was great at the nearby Queen Street NCP, which has two large garages with room for many cars that you can choose to park in at no extra cost and which are locked overnight. Left car there for 2 whole days and saved £10 (£18 rather than £28) by Premier Inn reception validating our parking card before we left.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room that isn't an adjoined room to its neighbour by a (locked) internal door (e...

Just come back from 4 nights stay here. Less than 5 minutes walk from the station.
Less than 3 minutes walk from the city wall (a beautiful walk either way). Less than 10 minutes walk to the city. Very good value for money. Even though it was half term, hotel was fairly quiet in regards to noise. Only downside was our room was dark - however we didn't come to York to sit in the room!

This hotel provides everything you expect from a Premier Inn - good location near the city walls, 10 minutes walk from the centre, comfy beds and pillows, helpful staff, excellent breakfast etc. However it was very noisy and could have done with a good run round with a duster. Despite the fact that it has double glazing (and I got up in the night to check!), the noise from the traffic is overwhelming. I live on a busy road myself so I am used to traffic noise but this was horrendous especially as the traffic is start-stop for the lights. Make sure you ask for a room that does not overlook the road. Also we had an adjoining door into the next room which seemed to be housing a hyena judging by the hysterical laughter coming from there at all hours!! So make sure you ask for a room without an adjoining door as well!

Room Tip: Ask for a room without an adjoining door and not overlooking the front street

I went to this hotel with my 2 children and a friend and her 2 children. The location in the centre of York was ideal, and we couldn't fault the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Highly recommended.
