Never been to Premier Inn and now twice in a month!!!!!!!!!! and a very positive experience at both (see review 1 nite). This time a 3 nite stay at Blossum Street South in York and a fantastic 3 nites they were.
Let’s start with any negatives, well the truth is they weren't any.
Positives – the staff; starting on Sunday when they rang us to discuss the stay and I requested a bigger room as we were staying for the 3 days, family and friends were joining us between 1 to 2 days and they agreed to put us close together. On arrival the staff were first-rate always on hand, smiling, polite and very helpful, replacing lost key cards or when we just forget them nothing ever seemed too much trouble and they always asked how we were. Also it was a birthday break and they very kindly left me a card, a small but very kind gesture and one that only enhanced the positive experience from the staff and hotel.
As with previous experience excellent clean room and this time with a traditional bathroom (i.e. sink in bathroom), the bath and shower both superb always with hot water. The room itself was an excellent size with ample space as they had given us the bigger room.
I didn't have breakfast in the hotel, The Longboat Restaurant, but family did and whilst they did say the food was very good they did feel a little overpriced. We did have an evening meal and given they had 2 big parties to deal with in an hour the service and food was very good, my son particularly enjoying the lamb shank, so no complaints from us and I thought very good value. I have to give particular praise to our waiter, I didn't get his name but it was the 29th Jan the 50th birthday party, he was always polite never flustered and brought my cake with a smile, a credit to the restaurant and I hope he got his tip as we couldn't find him to give it to him.
Well placed in York, easy access by road with parking at the back of the sister hotel, yes you have to pay but it’s a major town centre hotel and compared to other car parks reasonably priced, the hotel not far from the train station and walking distance to the town centre and all its attractions so I would say ideal location.
Because we paid in advance the whole stay was fantastic value and they were accommodating allowing us to change a room for one of our party members. Yes we will be going back to this hotel maybe not soon but York is one of my favorite places so hopefully in the foreseeable future and now wherever I stay I will ALWAYS look for Premier Inn, we have stayed in other budget hotels and expensive global chain hotels but Premier Inn without doubt is my favorite.
