“homely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2013

I stayed in York for two nights with my boyfriend, this hotel is located only a short walk from york so ideal for shopping etc, we stayed in room 2 which appeared to have everything we needed, small and compact the only thing we missed was a wardrobe, however a rail was provided to hang a few clothes up. The coffee/tea making facilities were great, good shower, comfy bed etc, and the breakfast provided was lovely, I would stay here again should I be passing york. However a tip to mention is this lady only accepts cash when paying. The only bad thing I would mention is there is evidently a young child lives here which can mean a noisier morning but i think this can be forgiven as a one off :)

We stayed at this b&b at the beginning of November and we were not impressed for the money we paid, there is evidently a young child living in this establishment who wakes up early running around, not good if you want a lie in, also the heating was not working here and the rooms were too small for the price, the breakfast was of good standard and the rooms were very clean.

if you are thinking of staying here I would look elsewhere first, as we only booked as it was the illuminating York weekend and it was the only place we could get at last minute. We have stayed in York before and will do in the future but would not return here.

Room Tip: Do not go here if you want peace in the morning.

Heidi had contacted us as we traveled from Manchester to York to say she had to pop out so she gave us the code to get in the front door and the car permit was on the stairs waiting for us so we settled in then went off into the city centre, everything just runs so smoothly, home comforts and delicious breakfast to set you up for the journey home!

Room Tip: Room 1 is my favourite spacious and very comfortable

We have just returned and had a lovely stay. We were in Room 2 and although compact has everything you need. There is tea and coffee making facilities with ample supplies of milk, coffee, tea, sugar and hot chocolate and some complimentary biscuits. There is a TV and a rail to hang clothes on. There is an ensuite and there is a a foldaway door to the bathroom. Previous reviews mentioned there was no door so I am guessing this may be a new addition.
We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. We opted for the full english but you could also have a choice of continental or pancakes. You get a form to fill in the night before to say what you want and what time you would like breakfast i.e 8.30, 9 or 9.30.
It was about a 5 minute walk to the bottom of Micklegate where there are a lot of bars, restaurants
and a club and about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the City centre
If you have a car you can get a free permit which covers to 10am the next day. If staying for 2
nights you need to hand the permit in and get a new one.
We enjoyed the home made jam with breakfast and you could also help yourself to various cereals.
We thought for the price it was good value and we would definetly return.

The hosts were very pleasant and gave lots of jnformation about what was on etc.

We ended our trip with a visit to the Designer outlets and got some good bargains espdcially in the Kurt Geiger and Ralph Lauren outlets. We found the Ralph Lauren orices to be as cheap as they were in Florida e.g £29.99 for Polo shirts selling for £70 in the City Centre.

This is a lovely B&B to stay at. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent cooked breakfast both mornings and there is plenty to choose from. Lovely bedroom with en-suite, tea and coffee also in the room. Not too far a walk in to the city centre, only about 15 minutes. We could also park outside the B&B which saved the expense of car parking. We visit York ofter and will definatley be returning to stay here again.

Stayed at Heidi's B&B for two nights in the small double room. Everything we needed en-suite small but adequate I would recommend a bi-fold door or even curtain on bathroom as there was no door. Room was small but we only slept there so that didn't bother us. York centre is 10/15 minute walk away, also York racecourse 10 minute walk the other way. Heidi and Greg were very helpful with directions and suggestions for things to do. Parking directly outside with a parking pass provided, would recommend this to anyone for a short stay x
