“wonderful ambience”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

lovelly gardens to wander through watching very tame squirells feeding and if you sit quiet enough they will feed out of your hand. The gardens themselves still looked well in mid november and one could spend a while lost in thought and breathe in the ambience before wandering down to the river,

“A peaceful plot”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

A pleasant little garden on the banks of the river - discovered by accident on a meander around York. Not at its best in late October, doubtless much better in June or July. The old ruins give it an added dimension, very photograph-worthy in autumn sunshine. We followed the path back along the riverside and watched the tourist boats, makes an interesting round trip back to the Park & Ride bus stops if you're 'doing the Shambles'

“Old and beautiful”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

There are some ruins here that are cool to admire. There is also a tower that stands from well over 1000 years ago. It is the oldest Roman fortification I have ever witnessed and that was amazing.

“Ok in summer”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

They are nice to sit out in in summer and have some lunch on the grass but when the weathers nice they are extremely busy and theres hardly any room to sit down on the grass. Theyre alright to have a wander around and you get walk along the river from there but I wouldn't rave about them. Theres lots of squirrels that like to run around and theres ruins to the back of the gardens to have a look at. The toilets should be avoided at all costs as they are horrible!
