“Museum gardens.”

Many people use this simply as a thoroughfare and don't look about. It's beautiful ! Well maintained ruins , immaculately kept grounds and some simply beautiful buildings. Get off the paths , go walkabout , don't miss St. Olafs church on the outside either , lovely and cool on a hot day. The observatory is open on Thursdays I think , small but well worth a look.

So nice a green space with incredible sights too - not a thing to dislike. The museum and ruins are great and the river walk

“The Pigeon Chillout Spot.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

A lovely public park where folks can just go and chill out when they need to get away from the main throng of York's busy shopping stream.
It has its wildlife which makes it a joy to watch and plenty of pigeons who would gladly finish off your unwanted leftovers.

It also has the York Museum, which is handy to go to after a spot of luncheon.
Only one negative thing, like most public spots, i that it gets very busy, especially during the summer time. It makes a splendid spot for Squirrel fans to come and feed the squirrels and photographers who like to take photos of the Gardens during its wanderous times, such as winter, when it has a thick blanket of snow.

“Great place to relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

After a day trecking round museums, the Minster or just walking the streets of York, is hard to think of a it more pleasant place to wind down and take five. With the River Ouse on one side and the ruins of St Mary's Abbey on the hill, this is a delightful sanctuary against the city.

“Well maintained”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

The garden contains lots of interest - abbey ruins, museum, observatory, etc. There was a falconry display going on when I was there, and also a couple of students showing the general public of the moths they had trapped (and will release later). So you never know what you're going to find in the gardens
