“So relaxing - high quality home-from-home in city centre”
Reviewed 7 April 2013

Lovely to arrive at Number 6 to find sherry, chocolates, flowers, tea, coffee, milk, hot cross buns and butter, - we could settle in immediately! The accommodation was as great as we'd hoped, - so well-equipped with high standard of furnishings and equipment - and such wonderful thick white bath towels and brilliant toiletries. Angela likes to meet guests to ensure they are happy - though this really isn't necessary; how could anyone have any complaints?! Car parking, internet, cleaning materials, dishwasher, washing machine, wonderful shower, DVDs, books, 2 TVs, recommendations about where to eat out, take-way food info, a very short walk to the city centre, - even a patio with furniture, lights and plants; can't think of anything extra we needed, - except perhaps another week here!

Room Tip: Number 6 has its own patio with garden furniture, lights and plants - just sorry it was too cold to...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed in Number 5 Monkbridge court for Valentines week 2013. It is truly a lovely apartment and has everything you need. It was a short walk from the station and town centre and a perfect base to see all that York and Yorkshire has to offer. Sainsburys is also opposite which is useful as we didnt have a car and came by train. Theres plenty to see and do in York and it truly is a lovely place. The owner (Angela Bush) was a great help to us, recommending restaurants, providing guidance to the property, and also helped my girlfriend arrange a Valentines gift for me which was a lovely touch. Milk/Cake/Scones/Wine/Chocolates and tea supplies were all left for us when we arrived too as well as cleaning supplies and there was a dishwasher too which was a plus! I proposed to my girlfriend whilst there which made it a truly special holiday for myself and my now fiance. Would love to return.

This was our first stay at Monkbridge Court but it won't be our last! We have discovered a true gem - comfortable, modern and high quality accommodation, perfect for a city break in York. A great deal of thought has gone into making this an enjoyable and utterly hassle-free experience with everything provided that you could ever need. In addition, the little extra luxuries are an unexpected bonus. The main tourist sites are just an easy stroll away, so you can leave your car in the free parking space that comes as part of the deal. If you're planning to come to York for whatever reason you can book Monkbridge Court with complete confidence.

Room Tip: We stayed in Apartment 6 on the ground floor, which has a small garden perfect for summer evenings...

We have now stayed on nine separate occasions in these three apartments, and we have never been disappointed. Angela Bush keeps them beautifully. She updates things regularly and pays attention to the little details that make it feel like home. All of the apartments are comfortable; there is space; two televisions and a DVD player; well-equipped kitchens and warm at all times. I can't think of anything to say against them. Our favourite is number 12 (which is upstairs), because it has a view of the Minster (not a distant view either!), but number 6 (on the ground floor) has its own patio. The designated parking is excellent, Sainsbury's is under a quarter of a mile on foot, as are the City walls, and there's lots of information, as well as a caring owner, who always tries to visit to ensure all is well.

Look no further all you York travellers: Monkbridge Court is absolutely out of this world. So much better than being in a hotel and I just can't see you having anything but a fantastic time here.

We stayed at #6, which is a two bedroom unit:

The Pros:
- Full kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, oven/stove, plates/cutlery.
- Big Living room with TV, dvd player, dvds, books, maps, local attractions list.
- Free WiFi.
- Snazzy decor with lots of nice touches for comfort.
- SUPER comfy beds with nice pillows and fresh linens.
- Quiet area that is a 5 minute walk to the main part of York, so there was a little bit of traffic noise but nothing bothersome at all.
- 5 minute walk to Sainsburys (major grocery store), right across the street.
- So clean, so well-looked after and all the little touches to make this your home-away-from-home.
- Very helpful, professional and friendly people to help you make reservations and excellent communication throughout the process.
- Very affordable: much less expensive than a hotel and ten times better.
- Affiliated with the York Tourist board.

The Cons:
- There was nothing wrong with this property at all. You would need to be a power-prince/cess on a major snotty trip to find something to serious to fault.
- WiFi was a little spotty at times but worked everyday.
- Some international travellers (like us) may need instructions for the laundry machine and stove.

I will never stay in another York hotel so long as I can stay here. What a fantastic week we had and I am very happy to write this review!

Having just returned from our second visit to Monkbridge Court where we found the welcome to be even better than the first one. The apartment was spotless, luxuriously furnished, equipped with all mod cons and the fresh scones, chocolates and sherry were the icing on the cake. The apartments are perfectly situated 2 minutes walk from the city walls, with off-street parking and Sainsburys just round the corner. Angela Bush, the owner provided us with all the information we might need to thoroughly enjoy our visit. Hopefully it won't be too long until we return.

If you want to stay in a beautifully presented, perfectly located apartment then contact the owner Angela Bush. Angela takes great pride in her apartments and works hard to ensure anything that can be improved is. How? by leaving feedback forms requesting your input and constructive criticism. Better than many 5 star hotels.
We are just about to leave this lovely home from home, the furniture and fittings are modern new and of high quality, the towels white and fluffy, the washing/drying machine is a boon. Beds comfy, lounge seating of leather, again quality of the highest! Oh yes and the welcoming afternoon tea with home baked scones was most acceptable!
The apartments and area is safe and within very easy walking distance of York city centre (5 minutes) and Sainsbury's supermarket within 2 minutes walk, we left our car in the apartment car park all week! Cannot recommend this apartment enough!

Room Tip: No 5 is great for 2 - 3 people, ground floor so if stairs are a problem chose no 5 or 6
