My partner and I stayed At the Grange hotel as part of out honeymoon, we were upgraded to one of the executive rooms on the ground floor which was full of character and charm, we hboth got a complimentary glass of champagne.

The staff were really helpful and friendly, couldnt have asked for better.

Would definately stay here again and on the plus side its only a short walk to the centre.

Although it is in a good location and the rooms were comfortable, I was annoyed that I had to get up early to move my car from across the road.
Nice touch with the free wi fi and water in the room but I would recommend the premier inn more as you can have a lie in.

We had a lovely time over the weekend of 4th to 7th October, part was fun and the fabualous sun made it special. Part was work with a group of 18 over Sunday and Monday. The staff at the Grange could not have been more help or charming. The food was super - nwe chef they told me - and rooms delightful. The only down side is the [actually fun] nature of the building with much up, down, up when going to the bedrooms. But it is of little hassle when all esle is so good. well doen and thank you. Room Tip: be aware they had some rooms that are smaller but the main rooms are a great size. Back rooms queit...

Stayed here for one night (room only) and found the hotel to be luxuriously appointed and our room (10) to be very comfortable indeed (king sized bed especially so). On the day of our departure we had a snack at their Brasserie which was most enjoyable and well presented. The staff we met were very pleasant and efficient so we would most definitely stay there again.

Stayed here on a Friday night with work. Car parking space limited - offered free parking over the road but would have to get up at 8 am to move it. I think not. A small "single" room - dark green wallpaper all over the walls and ceiling made it more depressing than it needed. Had a stale, dirty smell to it - glad I was going out for the night. The whole hotel, stairs etc looks shabby and in need of TLC. Got back late to find the front door closed and locked. The pass key did not work. Rang and rang the door bell - did it work or not. In the end had to bang loudly (very) on the door. Man arrived to let me in and did confirm that the door bell wasnt working. As a woman alone in a strange city this was not reassuring. Staff had not informed me of this.
Hardly slept most of the night. Really noisy room - noise from outside in the corridor, from the room above and when the bathroom was used it sounded like my shower was on!
120 for the night - I think not. Would never stay here again. Most hotels in York are a rip off but this one is the worst.

Room Tip: Just dont stay there

A recent stay here found us with dirty cups and saucers in our room and the same at breakfast the next morning. I think it's just a matter of checking the seeing if there is a problem with the dishwasher, but, in a hotel which is a bit pricey, an eye should be kept on such things.

very welcoming. the blend of old (lovely pictures and rugs) and new (white company products) was just right. would have given 5 stars if our ground floor room wasn't quite so noisy in the morning with banging doors and stairs creaking. otherwise spot on.
