The one good extra here is the car service on arrival when someone will garage your vehicle and return it when you need it .
Food from Breakfas to Dinner is first rate and all well prepared.
Would certainly reccommend and go back there.

This is a good 4 star hotel in an excellent location in York, right next to York Minster. If you do not have a car all the main sightseeing places are within easy walking distance. Also the open-top sightseeing buses stop just round the corner from the hotel and the "train" that takes you to the National Railway Museum stops right outside.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, but there were one or two things that, perhaps, could be improved.
- The stair carpet leading from Reception to Room 40 had some stains. It looked "tired" and could do with a good shampoo or even be replaced.
- I stayed in Room 40 and the chair at the dressing table was too low and soft - not suitable if you were on business and wanted to do some work at the table.
- The shower in the bathroom, whilst powerful (and there was plenty of hot water), could do with a flexible hose. It was awkward to use.
- The choice on the breakfast buffet table was good. However service was rather slow - there seemed to be only one person capable of taking the breakfast orders and also there was delay in getting the hot breakfast order served.
However would still recommend the hotel as an enjoyable stay in the centre of York.

Room Tip: Try and get a room to the front of the hotel.

Would just like to comment on our annivesary trip to York for one night on 24/7/11.We stayed in a comfortable room at front of hotel overlooking York Minster. A lovely anniversary card from the staff awaited our arrival.
Location is best for any hotel in York, right next to Minster, and was well worth the bed and breakfast rate we paid.
Breakfast the next morning was lovely a choice of cereals, breads, fruit salad, and yoghurts etc and the option of a cooked breakfast made to order.I had the english breakfast and it was perfect, quality produce cooked to perfection.
Only downside of my stay was the pillows were a little too soft for our liking which affected our sleep. But after filling in a survey after my stay the hotel contacted me directly and stated that they have since changed to memory foam pillows which are a little firmer.
I thought the direct contact after my stay was a great touch as it proves that your views really do count.
I have stayed in York for a couple of nights for the last five years and being one to try different places i have stayed in five seperate hotels. And i can easily say that the Dean Court is the best hotel in york i have stayed in.

Attentive reception staff - arrived before the room was ready and they glady parked our car and stored our luggage.
Later shown to our room, (deluxe) fantastic view of the Minster and nice spacious and very clean room. Decor a little dated but didn't spoil it too much. You expect a more modern room based on the reception, bar, bistro etc areas in the hotel.
Lovely big super king bed which was very comfortable. Powerful shower, good selection of complimentary drinks including water in the room.
Some noise early morning that woke us from the refuge lorries (but we did have our window open due to the warm weather).
Lovely breakfast - a little stingey ie one piece of bacon, one sausage but it was delicious.
Attentive waiting on staff.
Hotel allowed us to store our bags even after we had checked out to collect later in the day along with the car.
Would recommend - room probably not worth the money paid but the location of the hotel made up for it!

The location is really as good as it says. You are across the road from York Minster and everything is close or a short walk away, truly excellent location. We had a family room and a playstation was provided but York kept us so busy we didn't need it. No air conditioning but free fans provided. The service was excellent from reception to breakfast and through to dinner. Of course it isn't the cheapest option but if you can afford it, this is perfect. Car parking is provided but they take your car away and there is a charge but then again the location is so good that you only need it if you are going out of the town. And even my fussy kids adored it.

Room Tip: It is an old building so a rambling lay-out if difficulty walking try to stay on or near the ground
